I have an original 3ds on latest firmware and latest luma. Just switched the 3ds on and all installed games are no longer showing on home screen. If I load fbi the games are still there and can be launched and played fine using fbi. But how do I get them to show again on the home screen??

Thanks AJ.

Let's see possible reasons I can think of...

- Do you have the tickets for the games installed or just the seeds? FBI can load ticketless games as long as you have the seed, but the games won't show in the home menu. If using a CIA version of FBI, then that makes this the by far most likely case.
- Have you checked to make sure the SD card has no errors or isn't failing?
- Do ALL installed games vanish or just some? There's a limit to how many are displayed at the menu and if you go over that the oldest titles are hidden from view until you uninstall some (300 total titles and 40 DSiWare).
- Does your SD card have any sort of read/write protection active? Doubt it's this since it would otherwise not even launch FBI.

That's all I can think of, so if this doesn't help, wait for someone who knows more on this specific issue to reply.

Ok all games have tickets.

Sd card checked and is good

All installed games vanish plus only have about 40 games installed.

And can copy to and delete from the card no problem on my pc so not a read/write lock issue.

Thanks for trying to help most appreciated

How did you verify the tickets? Can't use CDN for them, so checking through an app that uses CDN wouldn't work. Try backing up the saves, deleting the games, then reinstalling them just to see if it works. Could just be something got corrupted during a sudden shutdown or who knows what. Try with just one for now and see if it works, could give more insight to the issue.

wait there are whamen here
There are, also there are trans people too, but there's the EoF for these things, if you post, try to contribute.

Hi again. :)

  1. Verify the Read-Only lock switch is in the off position.
    • 121c0e10-a039-4f1f-8a53-770dda6be55c.jpg
  2. Copy everything off your SD card onto your computer.
  3. Reformat the card in FAT32 + 32 KB cluster. If it's bigger than 32 GB, use guiformat.
  4. While the card empty, do a Full Write + Verify Test with H2testw to ensure the card is free of hardware defects.
  5. If the card passes without error, delete the *.h2w test files and copy everything back on.
  6. Before using the SD card on the o3DS, install the *.3dsx versions of (1) Checkpoint or JKSM and (2) Cthulhu.
  7. With the card inserted, turn on the o3DS and hold (Start) button to boot into GodMode9. See if GM9 recognizes [0:] SDCARD ( ).
  8. Press (Start) button to boot in HOME Menu. If you see your games, great. Continue to step 9. If you don't see them, not great. Continue to step 9.
  9. Launch Rosalina injected HBL. With either Checkpoint / JKSM, back up all your game saves and extdata. Exit out by pressing (Start) to get to HBL menu.
    • This is the event if you have to start over reinstalling all your games.
  10. Launch Cthulhu to:
    • Shared icon cache management > Clear shared icon cache.
    • HOME Menu icon cache management > Clear HOME Menu icon cache.
    • Press the (Power) button to turn off the o3DS.
  11. Turn on the o3DS and check if HOME Menu repopulates your game icons.
If you've made it this far and problem hasn't resolved itself, to be continued...

l will try all that in a few hours as not at home at the moment. Beginning to think the issue may be the micro sd card adapter. And thanks for helping

Can you provide any more info on the issue? Like what exactly you did the last time it was working properly... perhaps you did something with the NAND, shut it down too suddenly, were too rough with the SD card slot, etc., any more info would be great.

Did you try reinstalling a title just to see if it shows up like I suggested? Also, highly unlikely it's the SD card adaptor, as all the GAMES not loading in the home menu while everything else works fine really makes me think still that it's a ticket-related issue. Tickets are what make games appear in the home menu while seeds are what allow you to play them (no seed makes you get stuck at the 3DS logo or get an exception handler message if you have that on).

The "oh shit, this is bad" extended guide.

Before we continue your journey to restore your o3DS, there are several prerequisites that should be met.

I - Make a one-to-one copy of your SD card setup and put this somewhere on your computer or external pen drive. This for insurance that you call fallback on retrieving anything of importance that you might have missed in your rebuilt setup.

II - From step 6 above, verify all your game saves and extdata were backed up in their Checkpoint or JKSV folder. Set these safely aside on your computer separate from the "insurance" backup.

III - If you have GBA Virtual Console games, you'll use GodMode9 to backup their saves. Edit - You might need to use *.3dsx FBI to launch them in the Titles listing.

IV - Your custom firmware is using Luma3DS v9.1, GodMode9 v1.7.1, and boot9strap v1.3 on both your SD card and CTRNAND. Power the o3DS in two separate sessions: with card and without it. Verify the versions of Luma3DS and GodMode9 in (Start) and (Select) boots. For information about updating your custom firmware, check these:
-or- for a condensed, combined guide of the above two:
V - Unless you already have *.cia or *.3ds copies of your games saved somewhere, you will need to resort to redownloading your collection at places like that iso site. Although not recommended, you may backup all your installed games, DLCs, and updates into *.cia:
There is a possibility some of your current titles are corrupt. Unless you have very hard to find games, it's better to start fresh.

VI - You are positively 100% sure without a doubt that you do NOT have ~300 3DS titles and/or 40 DSiWare titles installed on HOME Menu. If you have 300 3DS games or 40 DSiWare games, your icons will disappear.

[WIP, will be continued in next post]

What exactly do you mean you can't enter the eshop? Are you getting an error? If so, give us the error code. As for the system refusing to let you install anything new, I assume it's with FBI, so give up the exact error FBI gives you when you try to install something and it fails.

When you used H2testw, did your card instantly pass the test without writing any *.h2w test files? That's another sign of physical failure for the card. Read-only lock out due to worn NAND cells.

***

VII - You're also certain your HOME Menu icons didn't disappear because they were from an EmuNAND.

**** Guide continuation ****

12. Reformat your SD card as per FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size settings.
  • If you can, switch over to using a different micro SD card & micro-to-standard adapter. This is if you suspect your old card has undetectable issues.
  • Don't forget testing the replacement card with H2testw!!
13. Repopulate the core custom firmware files on your SD card. You can use the CFW starter archive found in my cheat guide here.

14. Your Luma3DS v9.1 configuration should be these exact settings. *
  • * Until you gain more experience and familiarity what each does.
  • Unless you know what it does and for what purpose, never use the option ( ) Disable ARM11 exception handlers.
luma_config.png

15. Reinstall all your games, DLCs, and updates with FBI.

16. Restore the 3DS saves + extdata with the save manager of your choice.
  • Some games can't be restored until their Secure Value are resetted by launching them at least once.
17. Restore the GBA VC saves with GodMode9 as mentioned in post #10 in number III, here.

Done that eshop now working but only when sd card is removed but games still not showing and still cant install anything.
The error you got was from that thing being there. Other cause is this: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4234/~/error-code:-007-0200 SD card issues, NOW try a different adaptor for the SD card and things should work, because it could be a fault adaptor caused the files to be corrupted resulting in the "?" in system management. If it doesn't work, then retry TurdPoo's steps from above.

Wait, are you trying to install games from the official Nintendo eShop using fake tickets acquired from either CIAngel or TIKdevil ?

- or -

Games do not install with FBI.
No its game cia files that are not installing. I have never ever used CIAngel or TIKdevil. Will try another mico sd adapter tomorrow need to buy a new one as only have one here.

Just see if you can borrow one, may not even be the cause, no need to spend money. Borrow one if possible just to test.

Little edit: Make sure to clean the adapter and SD card pins btw, you never know, could just be something as random as dust or rust:/
