So I have my Nintendo Switch on 2.1.0 and I recently purchased the NS-Atmosphere dongle on AliExpress. Now that I have it, I have tried to install the CFW for that and SX OS to no avail. I am assuming it's because I am on such a low firmware, and also the links on their website's tutorial (http://www.ns-atmosphere.com/en/blog/injector-user-manual/) are broken for the firmware I am on. Am I not supposed to be using this thing and waiting for a potential coldboot method, or would someone be able to help me out here so I can join the rest of the homebrew family? Thank you for any responses!

You can just update without burning fuses straight to 5.1 so you can retain the ability to downgrade to 2.1 in the future. To do so, use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX. I'd recommend updating after you dump the NAND from your 2.1 console so you can have an easier time downgrading.

Wow, that sounds great! I don't suppose there's a video tutorial on how to do all this? I don't want to screw anything up!

You can't use SX OS without a valid license just so you know

Fair enough. I thought I could just use the NS-Atmosphere since they made it seem I can jump between CFW, but that's good to know.

You don't really need a video tutorial on launching; the linked thread is sufficient to understand how to use it, if you go through the attached pictures. But a simple run down is you launch the app, navigate to the firmware folder, then select Choose in the bottom right once you're inside the firmware folder. The tricky part is obtaining the firmware folder which you can obtain either through smart Google searching or using xbins.

Thanks a lot for the guide, Kubas! I should note, though, that when I'm in RCM and I have injected the Hekate payload (latest version 4.1), when I go to boot from the CFW, it just goes to a black screen. I try to restart it and I'm back on the normal stock firmware (accessing the Album with R or even L doesn't do anything). I really appreciate the help thus far, but does anyone know how I can get past this part? Thanks!

You should actually read the guides you are following because you did not understand what you are doing.
This will get you a nice brick from your 2.1.0 Switch

I'm following the instructions carefully. There's also a video that explains it all as well, but I'm facing an issue when I try to boot. This isn't very helpful.

So, you are in RCM. You pushed hekate and when you select any CFW, it just hangs on balck screen and wont even go to home menu?
This happens to me too sometimes. I just force shut it down and then boot to ofw and then boot to cfw. (Also don't forget that you need hekate to boot to ofw if you have Autorcm).

Just to be clear, there's no way to go from OFW to CFW, right? I have to launch OFW, shut it back off, boot into RCM, then inject the Hekate payload once more to try again using the same method? On Hekate 4.1, I'm going to Launch then CFW under Custom Firmwares. That's all I'm doing. I do not have Auto RCM enabled - should I have that on as well?

Appreciate the help, btw!

Currently yes. You always have to shut down the Switch.
And Autorcm is really useful only for upgrading without buening fuses.

Thanks again for the help. So something I noticed (and I started over from the beginning) is that when I first inject the Hekate payload, my Switch disconnects from the computer after showing the splash screen (just the logo). I then have to do the Vol + and Power to get back into RCM, then inject the payload once more to see the Hekate menu. I went to Launch, then CFW, and still a black screen. My Switch is a launch era system, so it's not one of those iPatch models. I downloaded the latest versions (from the other day) of the SD files and Hekate. I'm using a microSDXC, and I'm on 2.1.0, so I hope that doesn't make a difference. Hekate apparently recognizes my card enough to boot to its menu, so I assume it's fine in that regard. AutoRCM is enabled to be safe, as you mentioned. I'm really trying to narrow down exactly where I'm having an issue, since I can't seem to boot to the CFW from Hekate. =(

Use this guide, it's the most recent and IMHO well done around here.
By the way, did you installed the exFat update? Otherwise your microSD will not work correctly (or you can format to FAT32, but you will lose the capability of install >4GB games).

Boy, I feel like I'm slowly losing IQ here. So I went through the exFat guide line by line and did exactly what it told me to do (I also backed up my NAND before I created this thread). However, when I go to Launch on Hekate, it just says, "No main configurations found..."

Am I supposed to have something else already on my SD card before trying this part? It's not mentioned in that thread or the replies. My current folder structure is such:

firmware
->2.1.0 (all the update files inside this folder)
switch
->ChoiDujourNX.nro
hbmenu.nro

I'm pretty sure once I get this taken care of, I should hopefully be able to get everything rolling. Thanks for the heads-up, crissal!

Ah, that's what I thought! I know it sounds silly, but I'm one of those people that follows a recipe very closely and doesn't know what to do when it's not there.

I was finally able to boot into CFW and get ChoiDujourNX working! Thanks a lot for all your help! Should I bother upgrading to 5.1.0, or stick to 2.1.0?
