I couldn't find a guide or concrete answers for my scenario.

My scenario is I playing between two different PS4 Pros and want to keep my game saves across (so I resume playing where I left off on PS4 #1 on PS4 #2).
Both systems are running:
  • v5.05 Firmware
  • Both are "Pro" variants (I don't think that matters but just in case)
  • no PSN activation on either console
  • same local user "name" on both systems (same spelling)
I did some research, and using the "Backup Save DB" option in 5.05 exploit menu will backup userdata and gamesaves.
I'm familiar of running PS4FTP to copy the data to the console via FTP programs.

I have a few questions that hopefully someone can answer.

Question #1
If I don't use the "Backup Save DB" option in 5.05 exploit menu, and just simply FTP into PS4 #1 and "copy the files", will it still work?
I am under the impression userdata files were encrypted, the the "Backup" option in the exploit menu copies "properly". I personally would prefer to FTP in consistently versus using an USB flash drive back and forth.

Question #2, Part A
If PS4 #1 has a game save, say God of War, but PS4 #2 does not have God of War installed will it still copy it successfully (i.e. create the gamedata folder on PS4 #2)?
And if I happen to install said game, God of War, on PS4 #2 afterwards - will the gamesave from PS4 #1 be present and ready to use (or I just lose that gamesave upon launch of a fresh game install)?

Question #2, Part B
It's a followup question but if I copy all the userdata from my main PS4 #1, and let's say it has 10 games installed with gamedata. But my PS4 #2 has only 5 games installed.
Then I play on PS4 #2, then backup all the userdata from that specific unit. Will I lose gamesaves from the "other 5 games" that are not installed?

I appreciate anyone that can provide insight and feedback. Trying to avoid "corrupt gamesaves" when I can.
Thank you very much in advance!

Currently, the only way to transfer saves without 'corruption' is by activating both profiles and using the official 'export to USB' method. In light of this, all your questions don't really matter. We really need a FAQ for this stuff.

I think that saves are protected by the account id, so I'm not sure how this would work to begin with. the alphanumeric outside of the title id folders, I believe, is the account id. I had to do that based on memory though, but it seems logical.

I was under the impression, using the "BACKUP" option in the exploit menu decrypts and copies the userdata to the USB drive. Then you can FTP the files back onto the [same] console.

But I was trying to bring it over to a different second console.

Is that incorrect?

Yes ideally you need both PS4’s activated online.
Is there any way to activate both PS4 to use the built-in official backup feature without updating past v5.05?

I haven't verified, but I would bet it's also linked to the consoleID.

Not at the moment, and I would say not in the foreseeable future.

Yeah this indeed sucks I was hoping to use savewizard among mine, but since it never had psn activation I cant copy saves let alone use savewizard since it requires a psn ID attached to the save files.
Best thing we can do is use trainers or that ps4cheater tool

Use this? https://gbatemp.net/threads/activated-ps4-profile.513597/#post-8212309 and you will be able to transfer ur ps4 saves to another ps4.

In not 100% it worked, but i remember it working when i did it the other day...will double check later today when i have time to be sure.
Thats his best option actually, but then again his saves would get deleted in the process right? Since its suppose clean the HDD inorder to unlock psn required stuff. Oh wait would the backup webkit save all our data?

Yep. it deletes everything.

I can confirm that it does work to move saves between 2 ps4 with the Pre-Activated User Backup Tool.

If it works, I don't mind doing it now before "investing" too many game saves into my consoles.
I only had Last of Us and God of War saves on it right now. Already completed Last of Us, and about 80% done with God of War. I figure I can finish GoW, then run this process and I'm good to go for the forseeable future.

Don't mind wiping my console, and spending some time reinstalling app/games to "future proof" game save transfers from this point on.

I will try this after I finish GoW.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE!

I would like to share a quick update.

Finished God of War.
Import the provided "activated PS4 Profile" (and it did wipe my console data completely, which was expected).

Played a game on PS4 #1, saved and able to export it back to a USB drive.
Used the USB drive on PS4 #2, imported gamesave, and it worked. Played the game some more, exported updated PS4 #2 gamesave onto USB Flash Drive (overwritted old one).
Imported back to PS4 #1, and it reflects the updated gamesave.

In short, it works perfectly.
Thanks again everyone.

Side note: I do like the fact that you can select specific games to export saves, and even specific save slots per game. Nice.
