Hardware Is there a way...(Read On)

First lets set up the premise. I am a physically disabled pensioner that makes less than 11k per year. So i am piss poor, and most often than not, i have less than 1 dollar to play with over 2 weeks after all my bills are paid off and all my shopping for food is done. (Not looking for pity, just laying down question foundation).

Is there a way for me to use the Wiimote's point and click function on the Dolphin emulator, WITHOUT having to put candles near my equipment, and without having to buy a sensor bar for the pc which costs 30 bucks, and would actually take me 15 whole months to save up for?


this is a legit question, Not a shit post, and honest and genuine.

If there is, please comment and let me know.

Do you own a Wii and a Wii sensor bar?
If so you can power on the Wii and use it through it.
Alternatively if you have a Wii sensor bar but no Wii, you can mod it to a USB cable, but of course you'll run the risk of breaking it.

I have a wii U and a wii sensor bar... but i've tried it before and there has been zero luck.

It will work. Just make sure your Wii U is in Wii Mode, and that the sensor bar is fully plugged in (that socket is jank), then just connect your Wiimote to PC with Bluetooth.

Yeah, if you don't, it wont actually provide power to the sensor bar.

you can pull out a @Cyan use some cardboard and tinfoil to connect some standard rechargeable batteries and power the sensor bar, or sacrifice a usb connector from somewhere..
you of course need to check the voltage the thing needs.... and be carefull that it can short out your computer\usb suply

if you have access to amazon, there is 10 bucks ones that power off usb, but if your flag is correct and you live in australia.. well, maybe thats why you are only finding 30 bucks ones...

Ohh, you remembered I did that

I had some infrared leds unused for years in my stuffs, I thought I'd plug them into a cardboard and connect them in series to 2 AAA batteries and a resistor (random value !).
it worked fine.

I didn't place any switch, I just disconnected the battery when not in use.
I think I didn't keep it, so I can't verify the value of the resistor I used.
LEDs need 0.7V, so 1 battery should be enough for 2 LEDs, I used 2 to get more power and use used batteries, with a resistor to prevent shortcircuit. but it was maybe not even needed, a LED (not infrared) can be plugged to a 1.5V battery without frying.

I searched for a photo, but I didn't find any.


You can use LED if you don't have infrared LEDs. infrared is just for convenience so you don't see two lite points when playing.
if you can find an electronic seller, you'll have only for few cents to get the needed elements.
buy some cable and maybe even a battery holder, and/or a switch.

For the LED, I cut a cardboard of the same length than the original wiimote bar, and placed the LED on each sides (same location than the original bar).

That would create a rather jumpy pointer, try to position them closer to how they are on the original sensor bar:

It doesn't need to be that specific configuration, newer official sensor bars only have 3 + 3 IIRC and some 3rd party ones might have even less. The basic idea is that the Wiimote sees 2 bright points of light spaced apart. It can be just 1 + 1 bright IR LEDs but having at least 3 + 3 will probably be more reliable. If you're sitting in front of a desk you're probably sitting pretty close, so the LEDs should be closer together, since that is how the Wiimote measures distance to the sensor bar and it will help it work more reliably at short distance as well (in return though, it won't work at longer distances)
For an example, look at the Wii U gamepad on the camera bezel, the IR leds are hidden behind that. They are so much closer together because it was designed to be used on a tabletop in front of you in Wii Mode. So somewhere inbetween the distance on that and an official sensor bar should be good for using with a computer monitor. In addition, less LEDs should be needed for optimal performance. I'd guess 2 pairs of 2 LEDs should be perfect.
