Hi there! Im using RajNX on fw 4.1. I had to update to 4.1 with exfat support using choidujour and i'm booting using "preventgcupdate" ever since.
Just now I tried to use one of my original game cards and got a "card not recognized" error. The same happens with any other game cards.
Is this supposed to happen?
I suspect this may be related to the "preventgcupdate" boot procedure, but since i'm not really sure it would be nice if someone could confirm before i make a mistake.
Thanks!
When using preventgcupdate (nogc), the slot stops functioning. It should be.

Oh, ok, everything is fine then. Thanks for the quick reply!

Btw, should i keep using this boot option or is it useless since i was already on 4.1? (I went from original 4.1 to 4.1 with exfat support using choidujour). I wasn't sure the first time and i kept using it just in case...

This only makes sense if you have been updated with a safe method (CDNX) with firmware below 4.

Current version: RajNX 0.7.4 (released on 17.08.2018)
Download link: Get it from https://switchtools.sshnuke.net (as usual) !

INSTALLATION
Extract the contents of the zip onto the root of your microSD (overwriting everything when prompted), then run rajnx_ipl.bin using TegraRcmSmash or whatever USB payload injector you have !

USE
Select "Launch firmware" from the menu, select the appropriate profile, and you should be good to go !

FEATURES
  • Works on all Nintendo Switch firmwares AUTOMATICALLY, no need to manually swap files around on your microSD !
  • Supports homebrew via latest hbloader and hbmenu (fully customizable button combo and titleId you want to use to enter hbmenu, default is to launch hbmenu instead of Album unless "R" is held)
  • Supports exefs redirection, exefs patches, unsigned ncas and tickets ("sigpatching")
  • Supports extra options like LayeredFS (for romfs patches) and PreventGCUpdate via launch menu options!
  • Reduced telemetry by blocking eclct sysmodule from running, also uses creport that dumps to microSD instead of uploading to Nintendo.
ADD-ONS

Binaries contained in this release can be generated by compiling the following repositories:

SUPPORT
Ask your questions in this thread, no need to go to a separate Discord !
Serious discussion only, please do not spam it up with joke posts/bickering.

Were you on 4.1.0 *before* you used "choidujour"? If yes, then using the "preventgcupdate" is pointless. That is specifically for OF predating 4.0.0. Firmware 4.0.0 updated the cartridge slot, so earlier firmwares can't use the updated slot. If you want to downgrade to an earlier firmware (assuming you had a previous earlier firmware installed, and haven't burned fuses by updating through official channels), you need to prevent the gamecard slot from updating, to go back.

For example, in my 3.0.0 switch, I'd need to use that feature, otherwise my cartridges won't work if/when I go to 5.1, then back to 3.0. On my 4.1 switch though, since it's already passed 4.0, my cartridge slot is already updated, so there's no point to preventing that update.

Also, yes, that's expected behaviour. With "preventgcupdate" installed/running, your game carts won't be recognized because your cartridge slot is disabled (to prevent it from updating).

TL;DR - If your Switch was on Official Horizon 4.0.0 or higher, before you ran HBL, CFW, or any other related stuff, don't use "preventgcupdate", as it's feature set is already used/too late to be useful.

Hope that helps. Mouser X over and out.

Can someone please help me out. My screen is suffering from on and off screen blackening (although you can hear touch responses). I need a picture of the menu after selecting "Launch CFW". I would great appreciate it GBAtemp community.

It doesn't work

Try it now with RajNX 0.7.5 ?
Which should support firmware 6.0.0 too in preparation for it's imminent release (more work may need to be done if the actually released firmware tomorrow is different from the one currently on cdn).

Last edited by rajkosto,
is "additional nosigchk patch added" then mandatory kip1patch=nosigchk ?

Does lfs work on this version in 6.0?

Patch 0032 (eclct) in the presence of PM remains mandatory?

Tnx!
