Hardware Replacement Disk Drive

we got it as soon as it came out (christmas that year), so I'd assume rvl-001.

You can try looking it up here: https://www.wiidrives.com/list

I think some of the console batches got intermingled for about a year. There also are some serial numbers that should have the boot1 flaw that allows you to install BootMii in boot2 but they actually had the newer Broadway chips with the flaw fixed.

Okay, I checked, it is RVL-001(USA). I don't see how this is supposed to help though.

It tells you which drive controller should be in your console. Like I said, it may not be accurate, though.

Are you trying to get it to read original discs or burned ones? Any drive chip model should be able to read retail ones. If you don't care about burned discs you'll probably want a drive with a newer controller as they're more reliable reading dual layer discs.

retail, but that's not the problem. the problem is that it isn't spinning the disks.

I'm just gonna repeat my newest problem, since it got buried: the discs wont spin anymore. it's got a new, working lens with the static solder ball removed, and loosening the torque screws on the middle motor doesn't help either. it CAN spin, but it just doesn't. (this is the old drive, I had broke some solder in it, but before the solder was broken, the discs would spin. I repaired the solder, now the discs don't spin. maybe I did something wrong. should I try removing and re-doing the solder?)

EDIT: I re-did the solder, nothing happened, so I'm getting a new spindle motor, since that's my next best bet on making it spin again.

Last edited by UpsideDownTaco,
I replaced the spindle motor and it still doesn't spin. Please, if ANYBODY AT ALL has a fix, please let me know, I can't think of a single other thing for me to do (besides get another drive).

YES. It is the original drive with replacement parts (the lens, spindle motor, power and data cable)
Oh... like i said, my problem is really same like you. but in my case, i buy the wrong laser. i mean, i must buy the raf 3355 laser. But i buy raf 3350, so now i want to buy the right laser. now i only suggesting you to buy a raf 3355 laser. just for trying, and maybe you should think twice to do that.

I have a 3355 as well, it doesn't work.
