Hacking CFW questions

Good morning, everyone,
I come to ask you one, two questions.
I've a friend who bought a linker 3ds to hack his 3ds, and I thought it might be an opportunity for me to do the same.
Currently I am in 11.8, with dematerialized games (pokemon alpha sapphire, pokemon silver, crystal, pokebank mario kart + other less known...) My interest in this hack is to be able to use software like pokecalc. But I read several times that it sucks a lot in 11.8 to be hacked, and to limit this risk is not to go on internet. Only it bothers me more to lost access to the online games I have (I specify that I do not intend to use illegaux games (at least not before the console gets older, so not right away) and even less the desire to go on the internet with these !) I just want to keep access to those I already have legally. I want to avoid the ban as much as possible.

My first question : It's possible to hack juste for have access at pokecalc and conserv the online to my games legit in 11.8 with linker ?
Second question : I dont understand installation for pokecalc, i've listen to must install ntr cfw but luma is already a cfw ?

the risks of 11.8 vs other is all lies and bullshit, it's the same as 11.7, if you dont want to be banned, dont cheat online, dont use hacked pokemon, dont play games before release

ntrcfw is basically another problem that runs in memory on your 3ds and allows cheats and such in games as well as streaming to PC for n3ds/n2ds

Well there was a risk involved with downloading games in sleep mode via freeShop, but since the Big N has been closing more and more doors to their servers the issue really doesn't matter anymore.

@OP 11.8 didn't add much in the form of online security features other than the aforementioned (and now dead) check of tickets when games were installed via sleep mode. Otherwise you are just as safe* going online with 11.8 as you are with going online with an older OFW.

With pokecalc you need to have BootNTR installed on your system to run it. BootNTR (not to be confused NTRBoot) is a homebrew application that allows additional addons to be ran in the background of the 3DS. So it can be used to run ROM hacks, cheats, and so much more

*And equally unsafe because going online with a hacked system inherently brings a greater risk of being banned regardless of OFW, but it's still extremely slim.

So if I summarize, the hack is not riskier than in 11.7, but the ntr poses him more risks...
I have no intention of playing hackrom or cheating. And concerning the ntr I just intend to use pokecalc (without internet when it is active). So technically, the risks are present but not enormous.
I have just one last request, are there any precautions to be imperatively respected. I read that it is necessary to disable the option that gives the information of the current game or the spotpass. Is this mandatory regulation or something else to be done?

It's one of the speculated ways to reduce the chance of getting a ban. Back in March 2017 with the big banwave, most people who were banned had those options turned on

So can you download game updates from eshop for pirated games still or will that get you banned?

Can you legitimate buy games from the regular eshop running luma still?

So are you saying all that's changed really is freeshop and stuff isnt working for most or at least many games or at least don't download pirated stuff in sleep mode?

I come back to you because I have taken the step and I have a step that disturbs me... I wanted to make a copy of my nand but I selected b9s first. I went back to the menu and then copied the nand but this time I didn't take the serial number. Currently I'm under luma and I wanted to know if it was too late to make a backup of my nand before installing luma? and can I make a current backup in case of problems?

It's not late and you can do it without any problems.

This has nothing to do with 11.8 and everything to do with the updates Nintendo has been applying to CDN.

Because there's no point to bringing up the security added because it's dead. They added a ticket check, then blocked the tickets, thus killing the purpose of the security checker.

Yeah, I know, it began with the NIM module change in 11.8.0 and then everythin' was server-side.
But I said specific "11.8.0" because that's the one firm version you mentioned, but right now it affects every other firmware version.
