hi guys, probably have not posted in years , since the nintendo ds, haha, question is i see the switch is hacked, if i get a hackable one, and dont go online, is it safe to say that you can play all new games coming out offine, or can they do firmware updates or game updates to prevent it. we hacked a wii u 2 yrs ago and have had a lot of fun w/it. one child off to college next week (wow i remember the ps1 swap trick and my kids playing that) and i think it would be fun but there are not a lot of new games for the switch and just want to make sure the new ganes can be played (offline) w/out them fixing it . sorry for the noob question but not a lot of time to figure it all out thanks

They can implement anti-piracy measures for future titles but the community can always counter it by patching them back so it will always be a never ending battle between developers and hackers.

Not sure how the PS3 hacking scene went. (My firmware was past 3.55 so I never got to enjoy the full benefits until the HEN came out). For the Switch, we have 2 different game types: .XCI and .NSP. .XCI are dumps of retail Switch cartridges while .NSP are dumps of eShop titles (the .PKG equivalents of the PS3). Now we can't just drag and drop .XCI and .NSP files onto an SD card and expect them to work. We need some patches, usually from CFWs, to be applied and let the Switch run them. For .XCI files, this is exclusive to SX OS (for now) and they patch the console in their CFW their own way. For .NSP files, a patch needs to be applied during installation and launching of the game. The patch here is for the ticket of the game aka proof you purchased it. This means that the games need not only to be installed in CFW but can only be played in CFW. There are dongles in the Switch scene however these are used to load the console into CFW without the need for a jig and USB cable. They don't provide the necessary patches to play warez as these are provided via CFW files that you copy and paste onto your SD card.

Ask for the serial number of the console if possible and compare it to the patched units from this thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-informations-by-serial-number.481215/

Just wait until Emunand is released
Why do people say this? What benefits to banning will emuNAND provide? IF your banned in emuNAND you are still banned on sysNAND as well. Nintendo bans console cert and account (and maybe cdn if you're into that), all of which are the same on SYS and EMU. Unless we can spoof console cert and account, if you were banned on one you will be banned on the other.

Because you make an emunand out of a clean nand and keep it clean. It isn't banproof but it's the best way you can go if you want to go online

I already know about the bans. I also know the benefits of having emunand. Anything done in emunand, will not touch sysnand. What everyone is doing now to prevent getting banned is to keep a fresh clean nand, load up some games onto the SD card, and remove wifi connection. After all that, they restore their clean nand after playing the backups. Idk how long it takes to restore nand, I'm pretty sure its long. With emunand, you can easily swap out of the two
