I think that's what it's called, as in 'BLES-12345', but I'm asking this as I've converted a game which I don't think was ever on PSN and noticed it switched the game ID from BLES to NPEB. I'm asking as I intend to play this game online and was wondering if Sony can see this or if it increases my ban risk in any way.

Thanks for reading!

My fault, as far as I know people are still getting ban on ps3. You wouldn't be able to get away with naming convention.

To my knowledge, there haven't been any confirmed bans on the PS3 HAN exploit. Also I know I'm taking a risk by going online anyhow, but I was just wondering if the game ID was something that was visible to Sony and something that would increase my risk of a ban

Well you have game in pkg format that you didn't purchase so playing online will send info to Sony and get you ban that way, then again nobody really play online on PS3 now a day, it is like dead.

They do see the titleID (and even the text of the name), but nobody outside $ony can really prove that they do or don't act on that

Is this something Sony could issue a ban for?
PSN is a private service, and they are free to deny it to anyone for any arbitrary reason (as long as it's not legally considered a discriminatory reason, which I wager it's not)

And does this affect trophies at all?
I don't think it would, trophies work off a separate identifier (look into the hdd0/game/titleid/TROPDIR or somehting folder, you will find something with a name resembling NPWR/NPHR etc (don't really remember), that's the game identifier for the purpose of trophies and actual multiplayer connectivity)

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
