No man sky is prime example of bad advertisting. So many poor people suckered into that and it was a flop. So many promises and all were lies. I have no idea if the game was ever fixed.
Actually No Man Sky did release on several false promises and is an example of false advertising

I've heard the recent update basically redeemed the game, but that would still make it a game that should have fallen under Miyamoto's Law of "A delayed game is good eventually, but a rushed game is bad forever." I say that because no matter how effective updates are at patching game content these days, people always associate games with how successful they were at launch because that's when all the reviewers have their hands on it

I think OP is confused between not linking a game and a game actually being shit, like me with Fire Emblem. I just don't like Fire Emblem games, never did and might never do. But does that mean me not liking Fire Emblem it's because it's a shit game or that Nintendo falsely advretised the game? No it just means i don't like Fire Emblem games.

2 years after release the game finally has almost all the features they promised they'd have at launch, and it still runs like crap.

"Best game ever" and statements like that are completely subjective. Because of that you can say it all you want. It's like how every diner says "worlds best coffee" or "best burgers". There's no real measurement so you can say anything you want. Also, you can get away with saying things as long as they are 100% false. Face creams that guarantee they will make you look 20 years younger can say that because they do absolutely nothing. If the cream only made you look 10 years younger they would not be allowed to say 20 years younger.

I remember watching IGN's review of Mario Kart 7 and instantly buying game after that to end up being really disappointed. Mostly by how online features had a potential to be much richer, yet they felt not much different from playing the game offline by yourself. I can agree that Nintendo overstates some of the features in their games, particularly online ones.

I hear you, but I think your poll is biased. What about: I research games, make an informed purchase, and am rarely disappointed..?

Here's a nice example of false advertisement . You buy any Wii game that states that has online gaming or online support . And then you realize that wii doesn't have online support anymore , yet in the back of the box it doesn't say online support until March 2014 .
Si you bought it and they lie , because it doesn't have online support , isn't that false advertising ??? :-)

only way around that would be to literally never list that a game has online on the box because it will be shutdown one day

And here's another false advertising :
When the Nintendo Switch was initially announced, multiple AAA games were revealed for the console, one of them being Ubisoft's snowboarding game Steep. However, no news had been announced since the Switch developers reveal video, leading to a fan inquiring about the status of the game on Twitter. The official Steep account replied, casually letting everyone know that the Nintendo Switch port of the game has been officially cancelled. Instead, a focus will be put on new content and updates for the existing PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One versions of the game. Steep originally launched on December 2, 2016, and the Switch version was announced on January 7, 2017.

Nintendo had no way of telling that they would cancel the game

In most of those countries Nintendo is not the primary distributor tho, and so they're not responsible for incorrect advertising.

We finally cracked OP's code. This isn't about False advertisement, this is OP trying to justified his piracy tendencies.
Yes I have piracy tendencies , I don't justify them , but don't change subject . Nintendo has false advertisement , ps4 and Xbox as well

There are so many issues that I can't even begin to understand where you believe this is false advertisement but I'll try my best.
  • Its not false advertising when the games came out as the Wii came out in 2006 but the service itself was discontinued in 2014 due to multiple reasons
  • The Nintendo Wii U was released in 2012 as a successor to the Wii and used a completely new online service that used different servers than the ones for the Wii meaning Nintendo had to maintain double the servers
  • The Switch was also newly released in 2017 as yet another console successor that will feature its own paid online service making the Nintendo Wii's free online service an increasingly moot point
  • Neither the original Wii nor most of the games are in production by Nintendo so they are not responsible for those stickers nearly a decade later
  • The final nail in this strawman argument is that this assumes you can apply current rules and laws to items/actions in the past which is beyond false. Slavery wasn't always considered wrong but now that it is in the modern day, we should deem everyone who followed it in the past a bad person?
