sorry for my bad English,

hello, I just tried your tutorial with my old3DS Japan region, and ended to my old3DS bricked (still supposed), because when I turned on my 3DS only appear black screen (appear like power off state), but the blue led lights is on. I also can't enter recover mode (up button + A button + L + R + power button), nothing happen.

originally I'm not using CFW (LUMA, A9LH, and other CFW), previously I only use GATEWAY flashcart, i've used Gateway until my GW firmware on 10.X.X-XX, when my original old3DS Japan firmware still on 4.4.X-XX JP until i saw this post, i want to re-use my GATEWAY to firmware 11.6

I'm following the steps (also download for Japan region from psxtools's website post #56)

until "3b: start sysUpdater and press 'Y' button , wait until it's done ...." I'm still not sure that whether I should start this "sysUpdater" in sysNAND OFFICIAL firmware mode or GATEWAY mode, but by what I got from previous step it's still in Gateway mode.

but when I enter the sysUpdater screen, there are a warning message in red color text "IMPORTANT: Don't run this in sysNAND Gateway mode or it will brick!"

I accidentally press the 'Y' button to downgrade in Gateway mode, and waiting the installation until its finished and turned off by itself

but when I try to turned on my old3DS it ended as black screen with blue led lights is on like what I described above before (also can't enter the recover mode) and I consider this as BRICK, but I have backed up my original NAND before (backup original EMUNAND using GATEWAY blue card after I bought my GATEWAY in 2014)

please help, is there any way to fix this? I won't do hard mod if possible (disassembly, soldering wire etc)

With your console you plan on using. Is it currently 11.6? If it is, gateway has been lacking on proper updates, meaning that gateway only works up till 11.2. You would need to look at downgrading using CFW to do so.

I'm not sure about my firmware, but my original firmware is on 4.4.X-XX J (Japan region), and if I remember my Gateway mode firmware is still on 10.10.X-XX

Did the blue light stay on constant? If it does you would need to look at a ntrboot flashcard to use to unbrick the console. I am not sure if the gateway cards can be used for such purposes or not.

yes, the blue led light stay constant, and I can't enter recover mode. nothing happens when I press the recover mode hotkey button.

and about "ntrboot flashcard" is it possible to enter the boot mode or else? because my current state is my old3DS can't enter recover mode, it's totally only my blue lights on, can you tell me more about ntrboot flashcard or what keyword should I search in google?

lol I just found out from your link (gbatemp ntrboot released), that GATEWAY flashcard is incompatible with ntrboot
but thanks anyway, really appreciated your solution, I'll try to find cheapest ntrboot or try another alternatives

As far as I can tell, every title updated (from 11.6 to 11.7) can be installed except for the home menu.
NEW 3ds
Old 3ds
Worked:the titles i installed are the one from old 3ds and they work perfectly; i installed all the suggested except the menu one, the titles are

i forgot to tell, i already have luma and a working gateway, i only need to know how to get it working on the newer firmware @Quantumcat
Oh ok, you'll have to wait for someone to post the firmware cias to install on your emuNAND. You can't do a full upgrade if you want to keep Gateway functionality.
