Halo, when I got my Switch it had 4.0.0 stock firmware, with I fully dumped (29.1 GB), But now I got the latest firmware so I can go to eShop, and my Question if I ever brick my console, can I restore the stock firmware, or make now a backup with the latest firmware, and restore that?

Make a new backup. You burned your fuses, therefore you can't boot after restoring the 4.0 backup. If you make a new backup, you can restore it and then boot too.

Well, if he restores the 4.x dump, he can't do a regular boot because of the fuses, but wouldn't a Hekate boot work since that ignores the fuses? It might be an okay idea to keep the backup around in that case.

Yes and no
If you can load payloads on said bricked console then hopefully your be ok

To go and load to 4.0.0 while using hekate to boot you follow this method

https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/
And u must use a custom boot loader like hekate everytime to get into 4.0.0

To Simply go back to 5.1.0
You just use a nand backup of 5.1.0
and restore it.

He already updated.. THIS tutorial does nothing for you if haven't done it to begin with before updating . Hekate prevents fuses from being burnt it doesn't restore them once they are so yeah... older FW backup is useless...

Maybe just booting OFW with hekate and then updating ? (don't know if you can be banned doing this)

Sir that is BS,

I have used that guide to load 4.0.0 On my 5.1.0
after updating to 5.1.0

You must load via hekate to use 4.0.0 custom

With that guide you can Load pretty much any of the listed System versions
But it will wipe out whats on your emmc at the time

And when you say "load 4.0.0" your talking about restoring your Nand image of 4.0?

No... You dont restore..

When you use that guide you overwrite the files in emmc aka 5.1.0 system
with system files from which ever system files you choose 4.0/4.1.0 etc
and to make your sytem launch now you must use hekate boot loader
Or you will get a error or panic cause of fuses burnt

So to load anything lower then 5.0 you must use the custom boot loader.

All the info is in @rajkosto Guide

why r u worried about if u ever bricked? your siwtch is not bricked so you need to relax.if something happen then you fix that.

Read the OP...

F sake guy

I never said he could restore back to 4.0 but gave him the option or guide to be able to load into 4.0 if he chooses

And whilst your doing my head in and on the subject
From loading into custom 4.0
You can do system update to get back to 5.1.0
like i have done. and tested all i have mentioned .:glare:

An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure
