Homebrew Question PSP Emulator

Lakka has 3d acceleration already because it's Linux and Nvidia drivers are available since the graphics chipset has been used on other platforms besides the Switch. Someone needs to write a 3d library or use the Nintendo SDK code (a long time honored no no) for 3d hardware to work in Horizon.

>use the Ninty SDK code
haha enjoy that lawsuit

I'm sorry, I'm not a developer at all and was just wondering. This whole hacking scene has been moving so fast, you really don't have a clue whats being developed unless you live here and crash at github.

But please continue to be a passive aggressive ass who needs to comment dickish things on the internet to feel better about yourself. Grow up dude.

You don't really realize that you came off kinda rough when you said "I was just hoping that after leaving the forums for over a month that I would come back and find some new goodies. Guess not... :glare:", do you?

So, please don't get personal or insult people for just reminding you that you shouldn't act entitled if you don't contribute to the scene yourself... or better shouldn't act entitled at all. And if you didn't mean to act entitled, please choose your words more wisely next time.

Yep. I remember making some silly Merry Christmas homebrew with the official leaked GBA SDK with a snow man sprite bouncing back and forth on snow with mode 7 snow flakes falling. It was really easy to use. I was only 13 back then (2001). I only shared it with a few people in the IRC dev channel. Good times.

I keep rereading it and no, I still don't think I came off as "rough". Seems like I was just wondering if something was made between the time of me last being on the site and now. I'm not entitled to anything dude, sorry my curiosity just triggers people on these forums. I will never understand the "do it yourself crowd" on this website, especially when they are responding to a question and not a request.

Either way, me saying what amounts to, "Oh well..." shouldn't cause somebody to get all pissy and act like that. He wasn't reminding me of anything, he was being a dick for being a dicks sake.

Not to my knowledge, but a HBL version of Lakka may happen, IIRC.

Hekate loader for Lakka is in the works but that is VERY different from a HBL version. You will still need to shut down and restart the switch to go back and forth. The whole point of Lakka is it's a completely different OS, like Linux vs Windows. You will not be able to load Lakka from Horizon OS.

Just want to clear that up in case anybody is reading this and getting excited. I didn't see anybody else clearly refuting this.

So instead of something like Lakka, in the future when Horizon/Atmosphere/whatever is released we will need stand alone emulators for each system?

If yes thats cool with me.

Got ps tv two of them one still brand new plays all psp games and a lot ps vita games now they sale for 150 and up get one of those switch not good for emu because your system will get errors and mess it up stay away from homebrew.

The thing we're waiting for is hardware acceleration support in libnx. Then we'll be able to more easily emulate the 3d systems. At that time you'll see more 3d emulators pop up for HBL - individually and in Horizon's all-in-one RetroArch package.

Do you know how far away that is? Have people been working on that at all, or have they been mostly pooling their resources into just getting CFW stable enough for a release?

Either way, thanks for clearing things up man.

And on an unrelated note: what is your opinion of GCN and PS2 emulation for the Switch? Thats my personal holy grail/dream for the Switch, and all I ever see is people arguing whether or not its even feasible. Either way, I'm still gonna dream.

Well we have a decent ps1 emu up and running in the mean time on retroNX, games seem to play on playable to perfect performance, there are a few games that don't work perfectly yet, also docked mode has a ton of annoying fuzz, but overall its great to see the progress of the scene in terms of homebrew, the switch scene is still in its infancy, loads of new things are being made almost every other day, aswell as loads of nintendo copyrighted stuff getting leaked, which should help devs understand the switch's hardware/software workings better to accelerate homebrew development.

GCN/PS2 are feasible emu's for the switch, we already have a GCN retroarch core in lakka booting up and playing mario sunshine at half speed, so it is possible, but I don't think we'll be getting the best performance out of those emu's anytime soon, but it goes to show that we will get emu's uptill those consoles to run, I think we might even see a wii emu down the line, which to me would be amazing.
