The actual intention of this thread can be found in the blue box. Everything else explains how to find such files without asking where to find them which I decided to add myself.

To everyone, the Euphemisms haven't been removed, they've just been relocated. Oh and everything is now in table format which is more legible than a million spoiler boxes.

It does however unlike the 3DS scene (as far as I'm aware of), they did not use pre-patched firmwares in the CFW builds. The CFWs contained only signature patches. This time however, someone took a public CFW build and added pre-patched copyrighted firmwares and it was distributed as signature patches. All it took was someone to notice what was being distributed and now they're harder to find to say the least.

its a more appropriate catch-all than some of the other names. Plus replacing all instances of 'Warez' with 'copyrighted content' is pointless.

It's actually a good point now that I think about it. People under a certain age will not know this thread is about piracy just from the title.

Re: "Warez not a term used any longer" I did a quick search of a whole bunch of gaming news and general discussion sites as well as other tech sites. I see it in a lot of their codes of conduct, news stories from the last year or two (headlines even at times) and other such indicators. Edit. Might make this a portal discussion actually.
That said I will have to note the term being somewhat less popular than it was, indeed it was near ubiquitous at one point, with said 10 year mark arguably representing the shift. Might have to look into this one -- I have previously tangled with "preferred phrases" and "journalistic standards" (most of which were either common sense or very strange indeed) but if warez was to be kicked in the head then I missed it entirely.

That said I am all for bringing the term back and/or continuing its usage. It can happily sit alongside such euphemisms as pirated content and backups.

Because IPS is a very poor choice of format -- it more or less has a 16 megabyte size limit, can not handle data relocation, can not handle encryption/compression in a useful way, does not check the source file is the right one, does not check the output file is what it is supposed to be and the list goes on. Any one of those is probably enough to tank its use here, never mind that all of them apply at some level.

I'd encourage you to look at the site rules and tell us what terminology is used there
