Emulation isn't illegal nor is it stupid, it has its uses. Main stuff I've been interested in/watching/working on my self is save loaders, editors, memory viewers/editors, and layeredFS. Save stuff so I can have practice saves for speedrunning etc, plus mess around with various stuff in the save files to make the game get real screwy. Memory viewer to try and find new glitches or skips for speedruns as well as find consistent setups for what we already have or why what we have even works. LayeredFS is the best part because it allows me to actually customize the game, input custom sounds, mess around with various behaviors in the game because that stuff is pretty fun to do.

I've been using SXOS since day one for emulators and games I own. I haven't tried publicly available dumps like BBB's. So far no ban, but the risk is always there.

FYI, emulators are illegal if you are using copyrighted bios or ROMS for games you don't own.

Also if you care about the morality of it all, how do you lawyer your way around Nintedo's view on it:

I mean. look like there are 2 size on piracy:
Piracy (sx): continue playing with youre little backup. This is one of the feature that is only available on sx (and a litle more superior I guess more, I don't care anyways) and all cfw are superior than sx on other stuff
Tinfoil doesn't install dlc and stuff because of it being piracy (and we don't even know what is containing there inataller: probably code from tinfoil; or not? waiting on hexkyz reverse engineering)

Piracy: (cfw) doesn't want to pay for they backup
Both are ironic in their own ways..

Let's not forget that sx is anprivate payload + they stole code.

Never said I've been using emulators, but regardless when I have in the past I've only used ROMS that I've dumped so I can play them on my computer before I had a capture card

As far as I hate ReSwitched, I have to say they are far from being stupid.. they are smart and if they wanted to make a XCI Loader I’m sure they will be able to do it
And I’m pretty sure you can’t even do 1% of what they do.
