There's no reason to buy a flashcart (unless it is a DS flashcart for installing ntrboot). Follow https://3ds.guide.
So, because I have a 2dsxl, I would need a second system and buy a game on eshop. Fair enough x.x I'll probably end up paying someone to add the cfw because atm I only need 1 console, not 2. Bad enough they are $160+tax brand new in Puerto Rico.

No, you don't need a second system, just a DS flashcart. Some are able to be flashed with 1 stock system and others come preflashed, and still others have a switch inside.
Don't pay someone to do it, you only need to buy a DS flashcart. Then after, you can use it for DS games, so really you kind of did it for free (if you wanted to play DS games anyway).

Hi all, I wanna ask if there is a way to protect my SD card from wearing out, becuase I always removed it on my N3DS and to Laptop and Laptop to N3DS, I also want to know if there is another way like not needing to take out the card from the system, like VitaShell and when you guys transfer CIA to your SD do you do it one by one or you copy 2 or more CIA at once?

If by N3DS you mean New 3DS, then take a look at microSD Management: https://en-americas-support.nintend...ove-files-between-a-new-nintendo-3ds-xl-and-a

Otherwise or alternatively, you can use a FTP app. Sorry, not familiar with those so cannot recommend any.

I just copy them all at once, Windows/File Explorer still transfers one at a time.

Didn't want to waste creating a new post just for this so:

1) What are the chances of getting banned? Most guides I've read just had me disable a setting in spotpass and friends settings, but is that enough? Can I also add friends and use spotpass normally with the disabled settings? If I WERE to get banned, would it affect any friends I've added to play games with?

2) as long as I don't cheat, is online play fairly safe? Can I still play online with friends and other players that are playing physical copies of games on unmodded systems?

3) how are Pokemon games on cfw? My girlfriend wants me to hack her 3ds and she plays the Pokemon games. Will she still be able to safely play any of the Pokemon games (online, trading, etc) between other players? Can I trade Pokemon with her using a backup copy of Pokemon to her physical copy? (Not actually cheating or hacking to get them of course)

4) with the new switch Pokemon games coming, is it safe to bet that i could trade Pokemon off a backup 3ds copy of the game, to the switch game? I've read in the past of users not being able to transfer or do other things with "hacked" Pokemon, but as long as I play the actual game without cheating or hacking should be ok, right?

5) Regarding cheating (NOT Pokemon related), would it be safe to cheat in my own personal OFFLINE games, or would that risk getting banned as well? (Mario 3d land cheats to moon jump, infinite lives, etc)

I know it's alot of questions but I figured just asking about banning in general wasn't enough to fulfill my curiosity about the subject. Lol.

1. Very low as long as you do everything recommended. (including going completely offline when using hacked software)

2. As long as the software is unmodified, sure. Anything from freeshop should also be safe. (need confirmation)

3. she should be fine, just dont go online with generated pokemon, and stay completely offline when using a rom hack.

4. I assume pokebank will indeed show up on the switch eventually, so you are correct.

5. yes! but as I said above, its safest to completely disable internet while useing rom hacks/layeredfs stuff.

If I missed anything let me know, also if @Quantumcat or anyone else more knowledgeable than me could confirm the last part of no.2, that would be great.

When he says hacked software, he means homebrew. You can play online games fine.

Yep, the things to do are don't cheat online, and don't play other region games online, and don't play unreleased games online. That's about it. Otherwise you are safe.

Hi, I need some support here.

My girlfriend recently asked me to hack her 3DS and I tried to follow the 3ds.hacks.guide.
I noticed I had to buy a flashcard in order to install ntrboot in the device, so I did. I bought the r4 Gold pro 2018. I tried to paste the ds_ntrboot_flasher_dsi.nds in the SD and inert it inside the flashcard. Then I put it in the 3DS, as the guide said. I turned it on and there it was, but it said it was the "Spongebob's Atlantis Squarepantis THQ" game. When I tried to run it, it got stuck in an infinte "Loading..." screen.

Anyone can help me? It may be due to the website of the flashcard being r4i-gold.me and not r4i-gold.eu. The last one is supposed to be supported. In any case, it's supposed to be 3DS compatible.

I would try re-downloading all files and trying again first. it SOUNDS like your doing the right thing (I could be wrong), so if it still refuses to work, it may be because the card is a counterfeit.

Note that in some rare circumstances, it may be possible for the flashing process to brick a counterfeit flashcart and render it permanently unusable. This is unlikely, but nevertheless only original listed flashcarts are supported. To reduce the chance of receiving a counterfeit card, it is recommended that you use a reputable site to buy your flashcart (such as NDS Card)

Thanks for the quick awnser. I did it, downloaded the flasher again, but is no good. It just doesn't work. I'll ask the company if I can return it and will buy a new one from nds-card
Thanks for the help anyways.

Honestly, I doubt you'll even get a response from the seller. I would just wait and see if anyone else here has insight they can provide.

(Not actually cheating or hacking to get them of course)

Thanks guys! A couple more questions:

1) Don't know a game in particular, so I will just use an example: lets say a game that has both single player and online multiplayer. in this scenario, I might want to cheat for my own personal use in the single player experience. Now If I cheat in this mode, as long as nothing gets carried over to the multiplayer portion, would it still be safe? (i assume anything I cheated at, that COULD potentially carry over to online multiplayer, all bets are off and I CAN get banned, just as if cheating online as well). I like cheating in my own single player experience, but I don't agree to anything that could carry over and potentially affect other players, which in my eyes isn't fair. But I do enjoy cheating in my own games just to explore beyond typical game constraints.

2) as long as no cheating is involved, no romhacks, playing games in regions other than my own, before release date, or hacks in general other than the cfw on the console itself, logging in with a nintendo ID is considered potentially safe as well?

3) System Updates: Apparently these are completely safe to do with luma installed? So if nintendo decides to push out 11.8, 12.0 or whatever, updating is 100% safe and keeps your console hacked after the update? what is the best method to do so? (just go ahead and update? or update luma first, THEN proceed with update? What if luma wasnt updated right away after the system update comes out?) As a general rule im sure its safer to wait, but im just asking to confirm "just in case" scenarios, since the general information I've seen online makes it seem like luma is practically invincible.

4) Is it possible to remove cfw and restore the 3DS back to stock?

Hi guys. Yesterday, I was going to update B9S and update to System FW 11.7. I ran into some issues and had to reformat my mSD card for my N3DS. I was able to restore backup, but it was from over a year ago. I restored mSD card. I still have Luma/B9S, old version of BootNTR, FBI, and godmode9. I lost all of the games after restore point such as Pokemon Ultra Sun, Metroid 2 remake, Mario and Luigi.

I remember some threads on here about BootNTR where I can boot it once and not have to boot after each game? Can someone help me with that? Also, I am looking for a starter save for Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga 3DS version with max stats and such, but don't remember what thread that was. Any help greatly appreciated :)

I just purchased a new 2DS XL and would like to mod it. Before this all I had was a DS Lite with an M3DS Real. I still have the flashcart and it still works.

I'm not familiar with how far advanced the 3DS/2DS modding scene is. I'd like to be able to use my flashcart for DS, play GBA, and use retro emu's.

Is all this pretty standard by now? How well does GBA emulate? Does the 2DS recognize 64gb cards?

Thanks in advance.
