If you google "Switch accessories" a whole bunch of items comes up. Damn if I would spend my money of all of those "recommended" things I would be broke xD.
So my question is, which accessories do YOU use and which ones would you highly recommend and which ones didn't really matter in the end?

I'm mostly going to use my Switch (just bought one, unfortunally forgot to buy accessories at the same time in the store) docked at home but also probably taking it over to friend to play docked mode Super Smash Bros etc.
So far, I'm thinking of a screen protector? Maybe a hardcase? Or a bad that would fit the console and docking station?
What do you recommend?

Must have from day one:
- Tempered Glass Screen protector

Useful:
-Carrying Case
-Any kind of grip case to avoid cramps when playing handheld mode
-Pro controller if you plan to play a lot of docked and tabletop mode

Must haves:
-Screen protector (which I don't have but it's too late for me)
-Micro SD card, at least 128 gb
-A standard controller of some sort. Even if you think the joycons are great (like I did), you use that pro controller and there's no going back.

Really freaking useful:
-That one battery case with two stands (only if you want to play portable)
-A carrying case
- An 8bitdo receiver for nearly universal, Bluetooth controller connection.
- since you're playing smash, either a GameCube controller with the Wii u adapter or a usb GameCube clone

Absolutely useless:
- kickstand replacement
- fan attachment for the dock
- joycon battery packs
- charging joycon grip (unless you have more than 1 joycon set, in that case you can use one as a separate charger)

Was thinking of buying the Magic NS Adapter instead since I have both ps3,ps4 and wii u pro controller lying around. I heard that there can be problems however with the layout of the buttons.

Totally agree...

Carrying case and glass screen protector are really a must have on the Switch, the plastic crap touch they put on the Switch and forgot to add the oleophobic coat like any other cheap android tablet\phone have, so fingerprints, grease and everything gets pretty much glued to Switch screen is hard to clean and scratch very easily, a good glass screen protector with oleophobic will improve it quite a lot.

I also add to the list a Power Delivery Power bank with USB-C out capable of at least 2.6A at 15V for like 10+ hours continuous with a 20A battery.

Biggest problem I have with the PS4 controller is the Share & Options buttons which map to the -/+ buttons of the switch. In BotW, I'm hitting the touchpad which is mapped to the share button. I find the best layout is the Xbox One controller, I have the non-Bluetooth version so I have to play plugged in which is fine with a USB extension cord, only downside is you loose the motion control which is only supported on the PS4 controller. Since the PS3 controller has the -/+ buttons mapped to Select and Start I'd personally use that if you don't mind not having motion control.

Has it been confirmed that USB C PD will not brick a 5.x Switch, or is it just the docks themselves that are causing bricking?

screen protector, battery case or battery pack, carrying case, N2 Elite for carrying 200 amiibo on one little disk, protective case for the switch and joycons

Everyone reports PD power banks capable of 15 V are the best because nintendo charger on nintendo uses the 15V 2.6A...

With a PD Power Bank and enough amps the console can be played while charging and when it gets to 100% it remain at 100% discharging only the Power Bank's battery...

You need is a good certified USB-C cable to handle all the power at high amps, its proven that badly designed cheap cables can fry any device if its a cable designed for the old USB 2.0 specs as 500mah and to handle 1.5A and so on will be problematic.

Nintendo says to use a USB-C with 56K ohm resistor however no one reports that info so just buy the cheapest certified USB-C cable, I also can't recommend any as I don't want anyone reclaiming I chose a bad cable and fried anything and so on...

If you are going on a long trip and plan to use tabletop for a long game session, you'll definitely want a power bank and a hori playstand.
I can say the pro controller is a must for longer docked/tabletop play.
Also, if you play handheld a lot and play games that use dpad, getting a custom BASSTOP joycon shell kit with the dpad mod is a fantastic upgrade.
