Seems like a good place for the thread, but i don't really see much of an issue. It would've been nice if it was available, but come on..."hostage"? Seriously? It's a first world problem for something previous generation owners took as normaln(heck... How many cross platform games where you can swap between them are there to begin with?).

Just stick to one console or start anew on another account. If it makes the earlier hours wasted then you should reevaluate whether you want to play the game in the first place.

The main thing is that it is bad for people who invested money in the game.

A friend of mine bought the Battle Pass for example, and plays with the same account on Switch, PC and my XONE. I play only on the PS4, but will probably install it on Switch either, as it's portable.

To me, to have to create a new account to play on the Switch is OK as I'll not lose anything, but if he had the necessity to do so it would be a letdown as he spent some real cash in it.

Offering cross platform play and progress, just to be shut behind a virtual vault of Sony is just asinine and actually anti consumer. We're not in 2008 anymore.

For that statement to hold merit, would you mind proving how you're actually a customer in the first place? The game itself is free, remember? As for the actual customers... Who led them to believe their purchases would transfer directly to the competition?

I mean... My local grocery savings card won't work on another grocery. Air miles don't transfer to another airline. I can go on, if you want, but really... Things haven't changed THAT much.

You can use your credit card in almost any store. But if you use in one specific, all others are blocked. That's a better analogy.

Why don't people comaplin about Epic allowing it? They've easily made billions off this game and are 40 percent owned by Tencent now who is worth over 500 billion dollars.

And they make twice as much money as Sony does this by reselling you items? But that's ok because it doesn't fit the console war.

You're free to complain. Complaining that no one complains is just another level.

consumer support is for people who aren't winning
every generation the console that's winning gets their chance to be an asshole, they all do it
Yaa, but theres only so much a company can piss of the consumer before they jump ship. I doubt cross play and/or progression will be the straw that breaks the cammels back for many but they need to keep in mind what the consumer wants to some degree. I will admit though, it will be an interesting spectical if there ends up being a lot more cross platform games and people slowly shift away from sony to get a better online experience. it may not throw them to the bottom but it sure as hell could act as an equalizer in were each company sits in the market share

You didn't answer my question. While I enjoy meta conversations, I would enjoy you actually answering why no one talks about it?
(quote) Why don't people comaplin about Epic allowing it?
Well I can only talk for myself but simply because I don't have the full picture here. I put Sony in thread's name because this only happens to Sony's platform which is one of six or so. But I'm not saying Epic is innocent or anything.

I think console makers usually take about a third of digital sales, so yes.

Of course. You're obviously correct, and I agree with you.
But to a company, whose only interest is profit? Nah. Let's just make them buy PS4s to play with their friends.
Consumer-friendly practices- 90% of the time- are simply to convince you to purchase whatever's being sold. If the product can be sold without them, they go right out the window.
