Tutorial  Updated

For those not banned from splatoon

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, I AM NOT TO BLAME FOR ANY BAN RELATED THINGS FROM SPLATOON 2

For those that were not banned from splatoon 2 from doing octoling hack and want to keep doing this a little more safely, please follow the detailed instructions.

1) Make a new account

2) go to user then add user press Sign up and Link

3) Start up Splatoon 2 and go through tutorial until you get to plaza

Homebrew Time
4) Go into RCM mode and launch CFW, go into homebrew then press check point

5) Press Splatoon 2 and Backup data of new user (you can also restore the file from last user who was an Octoling, but Backing up data is recommended). Skip to Step 9 if your just restoring

For those who want to backup
6) Do what you did to become an Octoling (not sure if I can share the how to)

7) Replace save data into your Splatoon2 folder inside checkpoints folder and repeat step 4

8) Restore modified save data into new user save

FOR EVERYONE
9) Once data is restored restart switch normal

10) launch Splatoon 2, you should now be an Octoling

11) Play the game
(Obviously... )

IMPORTANT: WHEN YOUR DONE PLAYING UNLINK THE ACCOUNT AND WHEN YOU WANT TO PLAY AGAIN REPEAT STEPS ALSO REMEMBER YOU CAN STILL POTENTIALLY GET BANNED

-Or just keep your switch on-

This method is no longer applicable, the OP urges users *not* to follow these instructions anymore. ~Foxi4

Thought the ban effects all accounts on the system

It would, but nintendo would have to find out through one account (the account with octoling for example). The ban is believed to be triggered once you restarted or turn of your switch with the hacked user still on there. So unlinking wont let the ban effect all accounts.

Do you have a source on this? Not trying to start a flame war; I just legitimately want to know if this is reputable information.

Don't really have a source only just tested with my 2nd switch, first switch was able to evade ban while other was banned immediately

-But after a certain time nintendo can potentially ban you so use at your own risk,
Sorry :(

But you can check in with Ryans discord for any questions

If you are just editing save, for example LV or stats you have a low chance on Nintendo banning you from that. But if your editing save for octoling you have a higher chance on Nintendo banning Probably because of the unique ID the Octoling has.

easy way not to get banned online for using CFW just don't go online easy right

yep :D

Yeah theres a lot of banning going on for this reason, this is why Splathex provided a legality check, some people just edit gear with crazy abilities or have never realeased gear which to me they probably don't know the risk of hacking.

yeah I get that but if you don't know the risk of hacking then that's not something that you should be doing and I don't know much but I know that much I think that game hacking/modding should stay offline well not all hacking and modding just cheating if you mess with someone else's game then they gonna with you by reposting you i see people hacking on Borderlands but that doesn't bother me one bit them hacking don't change the game for me but competitive I think thats a no go thats just taking the fun out of winning

A majority of people aren't gonna spend $600+. I really like how everyone's solution of a unban is to buy a 2nd Switch. Wish my mother loved me that much when I was younger #spoiled2018

Or they can... avoid hacking a game that's meant to play online, if not for Nintendo, at least out of respect for players.

I don't know, I can't help but be happy that people get banned, especially after reading that talk about gear editing. No. Just no.

Also if you want a second switch for hacking, there's no reason to buy a complete one. You can get the screen portion online on eBay for about $180 right now. Considering there's no tax on eBay, that's just about half the cost of buying a new complete Switch. I ordered one specifically for homebrew and emulation, so I can keep my main Switch clean. $180 may still be expensive but I'm sure you can find them as low as like $150 if you don't mind some scratches, and it's nowhere near another $300 + tax.

The ban doesn't affect any account. It bans the console via the consoles unique ID, what account you use is irrelevant.

Lol can't wait to see all those that get banned doing this.

I actually went the other way with that lol. I wanted a second dock, for the other room, and also my wife wanted some blue/red joycons. 70 for the joycons, 90 for the dock, 20 for a joycon grip, was only 100 more to get another switch with it lol.

Nintendo needs to release a dockless switch for 200, that will help them push there Switch per person goal. They will probably price it at 250 like they did in Jap though, even though they want 90 for just the hunk of plastic dock.

Its because they think there is no risk, there was no risk on 3ds, no risk on Wii U, ect. They are not realizing that Switch is a different ball game, Ninty is messing around anymore, they want that paid online to work.

There is going to be a very big, very public, very explosive ban wave before this is over and people figure it out. The hackers are too confident and think they are on the 3DS again, and they are going to have serious wakeup call.
