You have to format your entire system to remove it, and reinstall 5.05 via REC pup in safe mode.

Other option is to use update blocker to try overwrite/delete it somehow and hope it doesnt nag for updates.

i was thinking about that too. is there any tutorial on setting up ftp?

Well, you launch the FTP server payload and connect with an FTP client to the PS4 IP address using IIRC the 1337 port instead of 21.

Watch out because latest Vortex FTP server, according to the changelog, remount all(?) partitions readable/writable: messing with the wrong partition could lead to a permabrick.

If i am running the 5.05 exploit. do i still need vortex or just just need the ip adress and port on my ftp server?

What I'm saying is if I wait too long to buy a PS4 will the firmware for a new system contain firmware that likely will be tougher to crack? I remember with the PS3 firmware 3.55 being the version that was tough to crack, making older systems more valuable.

In terms of PS3, 3.55 is the last version that will easily accept fake signed firmware. If you upgraded past 3.55 then as long as the console shipped with 3.55 or below then you can easily downgrade. PS3's that shipped with 3.56 can have fake signed firmware can't be downgraded, but there is a trick that lets you install fake signed firmware. If your console shipped with 3.60 then you can't install fake signed firmware, there are some things you can do now but it's not as good and it's taken a long time.

So if you wait too long then similar things could happen with the PS4.

Just curious, but what makes a firmware "rare?" Was it only needed for a specific game or something?

The firmware update only shipped on consoles from the factory, it's not downloadable. The only ones that exist are the ones that left the factory with 5.07. While 5.05 is potentially every ps4 that hasn't been upgraded past 5.05
