Hacking Capcom will now 'rent' their games - pirate proof?

In Japan its okay ... In Germany its a No-Go. I d never buy a streaming only game

Capcoms urge to have us all fill our game card slots with nail varnish will fail. If they choose to chop the market like that they will soon see the cost impact of that decision.

What are you talking about. 1&1 provides 100mb/s on glass fiber, while 02 does exactly the same in Germany while Belgium also provides internet over a 100mb/s and most European countries do

so unless the whole world gets fast internet with unlimited amounts of transfers... I am not going to put my money on streaming/cloud gaming in the next 5 years!

For people like me this simply isn't an option, I have nowhere near a good enough home connection for any of these streaming services.

Having a streaming service is a great idea for those than can use it but I can't ever see this taking off on a portable console. I struggle to get 3/4G on my phone in some cases so there's no hope on the go.

But what if your town/street/village doesn't have glass fiber? In June 2017 only 2,1% of all broadband connections in germany were glass fiber connections.

I'm guessing that the game runs on PC or something becuase the switch might not be powerfull enough to get a straight port.

Sure. . Wake Up. Not every village has it... here its like 758 ... no..... not 758k. And it stays like that in my whole area until 2025 :p there s a lot villages like that all around Germany.

So you don't have providers who provide the same speed over coax like Telenet does here and provide 200mbps internet over coax for people that don't have access to fiber wire

Yes. And its common here. And i know some villages that dont even have isdn speed (Unitymedia started in some towns though...) ... so in germany its not good to offer a game in Cloud only. In 2025 most villages have at least 50.000 (its a law). After that date it World je possible ... still would suck to offer no Card ...

The matter of all this is paying 45 quids for a game with expiry date, and that ties you down to a good internet connection. If you're cool with all that, it's not bad. In my case, I prefer physical games. I still play games in my Sega Megadrive...

they would almost certainly loose more actual sales to this tactic than they would prevent imaginary sales lost to piracy, honestly it just seems like a way for Nintendo to bolster some top level games that the switch isn't capable of just on paper to make the console seem more versatile

personally I think its about time Nintendo adapt a netfilx style solution to retro games with a small fee to access all their back catalogue, I know for me I would prefer that option and it would give Nintendo an opportunity to be ahead of the curve as this is obviously where things are headed, maybe even make a tiered system where a higher monthly cost = newer titles, honestly if Nintendo embraced that style of distribution they might actually be able to steal some emulator users for the sheer convenience, I know I "obtain" a lot less tv content thanks to Netflix....infact I cant really remember the last time I felt like "obtaining" tv/films from dubious sources as its easier to just browse netfilx and find something to watch

I can't imagine this being sold outside of Japan for now. We're still so far from streaming games seamlessly (and let's not even mention players who have no constant internet connection).

If they charged like 30$ a year with online as well. To get access to classic titles ala. Netflix style. I would be all for it.

Capcom employ: "Hey, nintendo just announced a hybrid console so that you can play on the go."
Capcom CEO: "That's amazing. Lets release a game that needs permanent internet connection then."
Ur also forgetting that Nintendo is okay with this since they are the ones allowing it on the platform in the first plaxe
