Since the Switch has been hacked, is there a way to play movies on it? Thinking it would be perfect for taking camping of flights without messing around with laptops.

If you're still using divx/xvid it's about time you switched to h264 (look for releases marked x264) It provides much better quality in the same file size.
H265/HEVC would be even better, but hardware support for that codec isn't entirely ubiquitous yet.

Kodi works well in Switch Linux from what I heard, there's no sound support just yet, but it shouldn't be long.
