Turns out it gives you an empty blade.

For the Rex part: I dunno. But putting Jin, Malos and Vahndam in the Party is possible. I saw a Screenshot in Xenoblade reddit. Would be cool but at the same time pretty useless since they cannot really do much

Saves are the same for every region, but you need at least one core to be able to see it in the save.
I don't know what would happen if you fill the blanks at the offsets to "give" you the item.

They'd get added in, but you need to have the right data.
Gave myself a few unnamed core crystals.

I just searched 0x000012 (it was originally 18%) then keep replacing in the file.

put the edited save file into the "inject" folder, choose XBC2 on the save manager and press the button that says "inject"

Overdrive Protocols : itemID=98C1 in key item address
if you have a Overdrive Protocols ,you can just find this id and modify the value

I read it but still don´t really get it. I just started using hex editor just for editing this game :'D So I am still clueless how to get it right (I mess up with Catalyst Scimitar Arts as result :'D.Luckily I have a backup)
