So it launches the CFW in the same manner as Atmosphere. In that case, what's to stop someone from ripping open that USB device and pulling off their files for anyone to run freely?
probably they are cypher.I am sure this is what more time they have been working.
The dongle ,i suppoused,is a microchip (atmel..) with usb-host and some little memory where the launcher and the payloads are.

You mean a PC? I'm pretty sure that's what they meant by "regular cable", the tethered method.
Exactly, but in terms of open source portable payload deliveries we only have a RPi setup. This device is tiny and much more convenient. His original point was in reply to me talking about the dongle using a custom payload.

Gateway is not a good comparison. There barely was a 3DS scene before Gateway came along, at least for the end user. Even then, Gateway was still the only real choice for 1, maybe 2 years until CFW caught up.

Switch is different. The amount of access we have through fusee gelee is unprecedented so early in the scene and Atmosphere is nearly here. Xecuter will quickly become redundant as open source efforts attract the most developer support and this will see the likes of Atmosphere pull ahead just like Luma did. But if people are so easily parted from their money, more fool them.

dont buy that, theres nothing special in that pack, everything they offer will be doable soon without them getting profit
I'm not against they getting profit really. I'm not some kind of fundamentalist crusader or anything. If I find it useful and it's not expensive I might get it. If there are alternatives to do the same I might consider it.
I mean, they are just greedy pirates. I'm ok with that. They are not funding terrorism or anything.

Crazy how this has become a weird opinion that needs to be stated, instead of just the default logical first step. People are so infatuated in being in a "camp" on one side or the other.

Looking at this, the "the lower the better" days - seem to come to an end. Its just too clean of a package to rectify soldering in a modchip - or have to instruct people to wait for the softmod solutions. Those who wait for softmods, will benefit from less "hassle" in the long run -

but everyone that just wants the featureset, will go with something like this, in my mind. (People want to play the games that they bought online - and they want to do it now - and without worrying if they can apply an OF update or not.)

This is the mass market winner. Imho.

I for one am buying it to play my backups so that I don't have to carry my cartriges around with me
I like their solution as it doesn't require a PC or a second device to run payloads

You are continually missing the point, even though several people have tried to point it out to you.
The example that GW kickstarted the scene is an example. The example of the concept that open source projects can learn from methods of commercial projects.
I see where you are pointing. I simply don't agree. Commercial projects are cool. Closed-sources are cool. I don't care about piracy, because as I stated earlier, it will probably lead to a reduction of the prices of the games. The Switch can do all what TX is selling, for free. That's what bothers me. What I was seeing in the Switch scene was a kind of fun I didn't see in the hacking scene since 10-15 years ago. People doing things just for curiosity, because it's fun, or just because the want to do it. TX is putting a paywall in it. I just hope someone clones TX's solution and makes it free of access.

Looks more like a glorified Fusee Gelee to me. Just the CFW thing but apart from that, i see nothin special. In a matter of few months, we might see huge improvements that defeats this hardwaremod.

lol the whole point of hacking is to have piracy
all is for "homebrew" comments just people kidding themselves

Poor attempt at trying to make you feel better by assuming everyone else just have the same motives.

Some end consumers might just be in for that, or for cheating in online games (even worse) but for the majority of people involved in the hacking community, it's got nothing to do with it.
