Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, the follow up to Monster Hunter Generations, marks the series debut on Nintendo Switch!

Capcom's press release today gave us a taste of what to expect from the game:

For the first time, gamers have the flexibility to play both local wireless and online multiplayer with up to three other hunters whether playing at home on the big screen or on the go in handheld or table top mode.

The new title features a blend of classic gameplay and unique new twists, brand new explorable areas and monsters, plus returning fan-favourites like the lightning fast Zinogre and the stealthy long-tailed Nargacuga. This release introduces a new quest level called “G” rank that features even more formidable versions of familiar foes, truly testing experienced hunters’ battle tactics now with different moves and abilities never before seen in the wild!

For newcomers to the series, the gameplay features ton of powerful super moves called Hunter Arts that can be executed with a quick tap on the touch screen. Players can experiment and choose from six different Hunting Styles including two new ones called Brave Style, which rewards players with new moves for landing successive attacks, and Alchemy Style, a support style that grants the ability to creating useful items on the fly during combat. Hunters are encouraged to explore and customize the experience between quests to find the most personalized playstyle.

Some screenshots of the game were also released:

Perhaps this time around they will make the servers joined hopefully, so XX can play with GU... We can only hope...

no kidding, i know for a fact ive been playing with the same 25-50 people across Switch, WiiU, and 3ds for years. We all use the same user names across consoles. And a month after release these games are completely dead because the servers are regional

Miyamoto: Regie! We need some AAA game for the switch!

Regie: yes sir! Thats a great idea. Its been a while since the last AAA game we had. We need a diversion from the indie games we dumped on them. What game sir?

Miyamoto: uhmm. Call capcom. We need a monster hunter on the switch too

Regie: but it will take years to build one sir!

Miyamoto: uhmmm. Port the latest one. Like we always do.

Regie: okay! The MH:XX it is! What about the 3ds?

Miyamoto: not now regie. They already got MH:Generations. Im lazy for the localization of XX. Lets forget the potiential users for who would go for the 3ds. I wouldnt want attention split to 3ds. The switch might fail.

Regie: aye aye! Right away Miyamoto!

Miyamoto: good! Change the name too! So 3ds users will not notice. Make it GENERATIONS.... ULTIMATE!

Regie: Noted! When will we release it?

Miyamoto: uh... near the online services launch! Put online play so the users will have to pay. Money. Money. Money. Hikhik.

Regie: great idea Miyamoto. Like always. The 3ds has online play free so lets forget about it. How about we make users from the 3ds transfer their save? So we will have more money?

Miyamoto: i like that Regie. Go for it!

Regie: *Posts announcement Trailers.*

Any word on a NA 3DS release of Generations Ultimate? I much prefer 3DS' 800x240 glasses-free 3D to the Switch's 1280x720 2D.

EDIT: To people saying the games die within a month of release....... I still play 4U, Generations, and World online regularly and find plenty of people.

As it's been stated many times, it's coming ONLY on the Switch. Just go with XX and dasding's English patch if you want to play on the 3DS, no other option really. It's a pity.

Fuck that, if they don't want me to play their game I just won't play it.

Fine, suit yourself and don't play it, you are the one missing out. XX is about 10 times better than Gen:P
Wait what. I read there was only 4 new monsters in XX over X.....

EDIT: I have over 200 hours in Generations I don't want to restart all that in Gen Ultimate or a patched XX. I was hoping for official 3DS Gen Ultimate with a save transfer feature from Gen. Too much to ask for I guess.....

What are you talking about? There are a LOT more than that. Who told you it's just 4? You got Giadrome, Nerscylla, Barroth, Barioth, Gammoth/Astalos/Mizutsune/Shogun Ceanataur/Malfestio deviants, Fatalis, Crimson Fatalis, White Fatalis, Chaotic Gore Magala, Lao-Shan Lung, Atoraru-Ka, Barufaruku, etc.. If you know how to count, that's clearly not 4... Add G rank though compared to Gen ending in High rank, along with other stuff like new maps and you get a LOT more content. It's an actual complete game compare to Gen and how it feels like a demo...

Nice, that is more than 4! haha

I emailed Capcom for fun and here was their response "No announcements have been made regarding a North American release of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on Nintendo 3DS. Please note that save data for the 3DS version of Monster Hunter Generations can be transferred to Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for Nintendo Switch. We hope you look forward to the Nintendo Switch version when it releases in North America on August 28, 2018."

It's not Capcom's fault, it's Ninty's for wanting to lock games on one system to boost sales. The Switch has sold VERY well in Japan, but averagely in the west, so that could be why they are doing this.

Monster Hunter World is really Bad compered to MHXX/MHGU

Gesendet von meinem TA-1053 mit Tapatalk
It's not that bad even compared to MHXX/GU, just VERY slightly worse than MHXX/GU making it the second worst game in the series. It just happens that MHGen was by far the worst in the series prior to World (I mean, even Monster Hunter Diary is better than Gen and even MHStories:rofl2:), reason World can feel like a terrible game, but it's not really that bad, just worse than most in the series (still better than Gen but worse than all main games).
