So the "hardmod" is just shorting the joycon pins right? Mine is on 5.0. Doing that will enable me to load CFW when its available? No other "hardmod" required? like opening up the console and soldering etc..
And the USB cable is only used on the initial hack, load CFW? Not required to boot all the time?

Everything is right. Your knowledge is right.
Hardmod is necessary when starting CFW.
In other words, restarting the switch requires a PC. (At the moment)
In the sleep mode, CFW is not interrupted.

sadly i don't think that's true. people wil l create backup loaders sooner rather than later

Nope. SciresM is not implementing anti-piracy measures into his CFW because he's indifferent (which more people should be imo). And since he's not disabling it, releasing his CFW inherently enables the loading of backups. Its just up to someone other than him to do that cuz he just wants to hack some 'mons.

Okay, so I have the necessary firmware (3.0.0.) for hacking purposes. I have installed the necessary homebrew. I have put in the necessary DNS Setting. However, after going through the steps, making sure I get the correct errors, the menu does not pop-up when I pick Album. It just goes to the default screen for Album.

What is wrong? Why is it not working? I've tried it five times and it's STILL not working!

Please help!

Only just found out that the Switch was so far along in being cracked. I bought my Switch in January, and I understand that Nintendo know about the hack and are arranging (already shipping?) patched hardware. How would I know if the Switch I have is hackable and should I stop updating it?

If you already bought your Switch, it can be hacked regardless of what firmware it is on. The unpatchable exploit you are referring to takes advantage of the hardware of all currently released Switches. It can be patched, yes, but not by an online firmware update. It can only be patched at the factory before it ends up in your hands. So no matter how high the firmware number gets, your Switch will always be 100% hackable. The only differences comes in accessing it. Lower firmwares have the benefit of not using the hardware exploit, but higher ones, for the time being, must until someone comes up with an alternative.

So i bought a switch, and it has 4.1 firmware on it. I got zero games. But kinda want to get Zelda BoTW. However i also want to update Zelda BoTW for better performance without upgrading my firmware. Is this possible at all?

I think I understand most of Fusée Gelée and Atmosphere, but there still are things I didn't grasp, anybody care to enlighten me?

1) Does the exploit install anything on the Switch's internal storage?
2) Once one installs CFW, can one still update the Switch's firmware to allow downloading games on the eShop?

I think I'll just upgrade to the latest 5.x from 4.1 since I want to download my game updates and DLC now, even if that means tethered-only Fusée Gelée later on (eventually someone will code an payload injector for Raspberry Pi that doesn't require anything other than powering up the little thing and plugging the Switch).

I can't find anything that you guys are taking about on here. Can someone please direct me to a thread or link with up to date information on what's currently possible? I can't seem to find anything aside from gleaning small bits of info while still having read through multiple pages of posts. Here's all I've managed to learn so far. Based on title this thread should be up to date with current hacks. Based on another thread showing 3d printed "jigs" there's a hard mod exploit. Based on discussion here, a lot of people know about it.

Please someone help?
