Hello, these days I'm playing Mario Kart Wii a lot with a GC controller and the only thing that bothers me is that if I want to do an acrobatics when jumping, I have to press the d-pad and it makes me very uncomfortable.
Is there any way to change the settings of Mario Kart Wii buttons (and CTGP) having a Wii with softmod?

I would also like to know if there is any way that the GC controller can be used in the Wii main menu as if it were a Classic controller.

Thx a lot guys!

Main menu wise.
No. Theoretically it could be done but it has yet to be.
I don't know if there is an autoboot to loader type arrangement you could get going on as that might dodge it at some level.

Controls wise... if you have a softmodded wii you can run custom games, you can then in turn customise.

There is no OS/IOS level thing like some other systems, or the PC, have though. You would have to hack the game as per conventional controller hacks on older systems (find out where the controller is read from or debounced to, edit either the thing the gesture command looks for or edit it such that whatever you want to replace it with goes to the slot the dpad values once occupied. If the game has a controller setup (even a simple selection of prebaked controller schemes) then you have another option for something to attack as well). None of this is particularly easy if you are not already versed in hacking.

Option 2. If you really really want you can do some soldering inside the controller but I don't recommend that.

All that said do you have really small hands or something? The GC controller is far from the best one made but I seldom find tapping the dpad to be uncomfortable, and if it is only something as banal as gestures/taunts then yeah).

The GC controller is good, but to play MK Wii is annoying, because to do the tricks you have to release the driving joystick.

For the rest, I do not have much knowledge of hacking, but decrypting a game and editing the action of 2 buttons shouldn't be very difficult.

Some might argue that the point of the gestures are that you are showing you are that far ahead that you can afford to let go of something.

As far as "editing the action of 2 buttons shouldn't be very difficult" then in the sense that it should not take many extensive changes then sure, in the sense that it should not take long and be easy for anybody to hunt down things and make the changes then not so much.
