What is welcome in this thread is speculation, you are free to discuss that among yourselfs openly, which there is alot of GBATemp, but there its all speculation, it does not contain any more official info then what is located here and on the front page. To sum it up, as stated before our mod is 'future-proof', i know everyone screaming for 'more proof' after nintendo's big 5.0 release, but Don't Worry.. Be Happy.. Stay Clam.. Chillout.. There will be solderless and solder version, when the time comes as we get closer to release more info will be released, but due to cloners and e-famers, and other reasons, you will not see much more info posted like pics, etc. until just before pre-orders start, and we have not finalized a release date yet either, so don't whine about that either. All I can say is things are moving smoothly, the prototype boards are in hands of our skilled development team, and they are busy putting the final touches to give you a complete nice solution for modding, improving and enjoying your Nintendo Switch to the fullest the hardware can take you!

People refuse to think logically before they jump to conclusions that TX is going to either fail in their efforts or step down, when in reality the only thing that could cause them to step down is people jumping to conclusions.

Nintendo is not known for their security. BootROM exploits were found in the 3DS and Wii U very quickly, and have already been found on both ends (software and hardware) regarding the Switch. It is not difficult to believe that TX is putting together a device that sets this up for the end user.

Now, people are also freaking out about the 5.0 update. The 5.0 update sets up more features (both security wise and not) regarding future hardware revisions. This does not mean they are coming out with a "Nintendo New Switch" come E3, it just means that their will likely be a SoC revision. IIRC, this happened with the original 2DS but we saw no performance improvements, only a feature that would prevent the 3D calibration screen on the 2DS. The 5.0 update also cannot prevent TX's chip from working once it does. The newer hardware can. The term "future proof" refers to the updates that Nintendo will push firmware wise.

People need to realize that all of this speculation about TX failing can be crushed with a minutes worth of logical thought.

Actually almost every console gets SoC updates and other hardware revisions throughout their life without updated specs. The only reason its different this time is because we broke into the system so early that we are for one of the first times seeing the changes in software before the new hardware hits.

I believe they actually have the exploit and will release it. It's 100% verified that bootrom exploit can be accessed from both software and hardware. So no denying the vulnerability exists to be exploited.
The only thing is that you'll likely be paying a high price for their hardware, far more than it's actually worth.

The thing for some is that they expect to have something more than just a promise about the thing working. Especially if you come from another scenes, where there have been a lot of attempts, and failures (read:vaporware) surrounding it, like the 3DS Scene. Still looking at Crown 3ds and its absurd premise of 1=1 gaming.
Now, TX had worked on other consoles before, and there's trust level for them to that, and it's understandable that they want to be as much secretive as possible so that nobody copies what they're working on, but unfortunately, the news and the scene are moving way faster than everything at the moment, that something akin to a proof of concept would "simmer down" some of the flak they're receiving.

It's just that the conditions for them to do the announcements and the actual movements from Nintendo haven't helped to maintain calm. Everybody went into panic mode as soon as 5.0 entered the fray, and with reason; add to that there is a SoC revision on the way, if not here already, which is really unheard of from nintendo (hardware revisions as a whole are going to be something new for most, but remember the PSP era? Buckle up for another one)....and you are at critical mass.

What i'm saying is, maybe a good PoC would be good on the long run? I mean, they have the tools and said that their previous effort with what they had worked, but buggy. Why not showcase part of that? (of course, nothing too sensible so that the cloners can't determine how does it do it)
Still thinking that'd alleviate the waters for a while. But oh welll... OPINIONS! :tpi:

That person is implying there's going to be similar console revisions like there are PSP revisions. There is a PSP-1000, 2000, 3000, and a bigger revision called PSP GO.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't be doing that though. It's typical for a company to release small hardware iterations throughout a console's life cycle. And importantly this revision would be less hackable, and they don't want to bring any extra attention to that.

The issue is they have demonstrated that they have bootrom. At this point they have given as much proof that they have an exploit working as the free homebrew devs have, ie merely a video with some boot scroller/image. So why then do we whole heartedly accept those devs but not TX? Can't be because the homebrew devs have demonstrated and released their work in the past, because if that were so then it would have to also apply to TX who have released their work in the past.
