Stock N3DS, FW 11.4. Using R4i 3DS RTS.

So I'm on Section III - Installing boot9strap and after getting SafeB9SInstaller booted up, all the safety checks went through, and the key combo, I get a FIRM Backup Fail.
I did everything: Used different SD cards, formatted my SD and redid the process again, and made sure my 32GB had plenty of space.
Files are up to date and I checked if I had all files required.

I had NinjaHax before, hence the other files. Is this contributing to the problem?

This may be a little advanced, but boot9strap is a FIRM and thus can be installed. GodMode9 allows for the installation of firms. It also allows for the backup of firms.

1. Boot GodMode9 through ntrboot by replacing SafeBoot9StrapInstaller with the latest GodMode9.
2. Once booted go to SYSNAND VIRTUAL and copy Firm0.bin and Firm1.bin as at this point they are the original firms and are doing the same thing SafeBoot9StrapInstaller would have done.
3. Next navigate to your boot9strap folder and select the firm file and then select FIRM options.
4. Press Install Firm and enter the code given, don't worry if it gives you a very scary warning as we are using a firm that is certain to work.
5. You'll now have a choice to install to FIRM0, FIRM1, or both.

FIRM0: The default FIRM that the 3DS loads on boot.
FIRM1: A backup firm that is loaded if FIRM0 is unable to boot due to corruption or something else.
7. Hit install to both and once it says success press start to reboot.

Sidnote: I personally recommend you install GodMode9 to FIRM1 if you want, as if boot9strap breaks it will boot to GodMode9 so you can repair it.

Hope this helps!

Did you used the standard version of bootstrap ?

The latest release of boot9strap (standard boot9strap; not the devkit file, not the ntr file)

It's not a problem with the FIRM's, it's a problem with backing up the stock firms.
