I decided to mod my 101 gamecube with a xenoGC 2.
First I went with a wired install. Everything seemed to worked fine, games would boot normally, so I assembled the gamecube and moved it to the main tv.
After playing for 15 - 20 minutes I decided to change game. I tried to boot a backup disc, but it says "No Disc". I put an original and it plays fine.
I disconnect the gc, open it up, power it on and the xeno is flashing red.
I reflow all the solder points test it again, multiple times, multiple backups everything is working.
Close it up again after 15 minutes of game play tried to change game, "No Disc".
Disconnect, open up, power it on, xeno flashing red.
Disolder everything and go with the wireless install.
Test it again everything is working. Close it after 15 minutes, try to change disc, same thing "No Disc".
Disconnect, open up, power it on, xeno flashing red, reflow, test working fine.
Now again when I try to change disc it says "No Disc".

Im at the point of thinking to give it the old drop test from the roof of my house.
Anyone got any advice before I kill the thing for good.

Did you Preform POT Adjustment? You could be shorting out.
Hold start while attempting to boot see if it takes you to xenogc menu if not there is a bad lead.
I would have started using a POT adjustment to 200 Ohms first before reflowing or replacing.
When you removed it did you use correct de-soldering techniques?
You also could have just had a bad burn.
What type of burner are you using?
What app?
What disc brand?
Can you currently play originals fine? If yes you probably just have a bad burn. Performing a POT adjustment can help with playing backups if its at least trying to read it.

My setup is as follows and have had zero bad burns I also make my own dumps though. (this is hard for some to do if they don't have proper tools/hardware)

Burner: LG Blu-ray WH14NS40
Disc Brand: RiData Mini DVD-r
Burner Software: IMGBurn

The burner is one of the most important parts. if you look on the bottom of the disc and see any addition spaces like streaking lines it probably wont work.

The thing is that at one point or another it was reading the burned disc.

I was using ridata dissc with imgburn. Tried both my desktop and laptop burners.

I ended up destroying the laser assembly when I tried to remove the wireless install. Im guessing too much heat.

I ordered a new laser and new xeno chip.

I installed it again using a wired install, I came to the conclusion that a wireless install is a bad idea unless you have hot air station to be able to remove it easily, if anything goes wrong.

I tested everything with a multi meter and it was ok. The burned game booted once then on the second try it wouldnt read the disc, gave some error.

I uninstalled everything and ordered a sd media launcher.

I think there is something wrong with these Chinese xeno chips.

For one they have 2 red leds so good luck knowing if anything is wrong.

On my second one I had it hanging on the side so I can look at the leds.
On the first run led 1 turns on then off and led 2 turns on. Burned game boots without an issue.
Turn it off wait 1 minute and turn it on again. First led starts blinking and I get an error.

Faulty chip maybe or laser? Burn @2x because out of 300+ GC's over the years modding them, not one would work properly above 2x even after pot tweaks using Ritek Purple Dye discs, which are the best for the GC.

What was your POT set to? you might have a faulty mobo or a bridged point double check wiring and check for any bridged points. If you could post a photo of your soldering here. its acting as if it cant write to the drive properly. are you putting electrical tape over the card in case of shorting on metal housing? There are six separate places to solder onto the board if any of the parts touch another pin it could cause it to fail. wait kind of solder are you using as well.

Not a laser issue. I got an SD media launcher today and I can run burned games through swiss, so the laser reads them fine.
The first time I did use electrical tape to insulate the chip. The second time the xeno chip was hanging on the side so I could see the led's, so no short there.
Im using kester 63/37 solder.
I honestly think that there is something wrong with these chinese xeno chips with the 2 red leds.

In any case I just wanted to run GBI, I got a soft modded Wii for gamecube games, and I can run it fine with SD media launcher.

Thanks to all for all the help.
