On the homebrew page it says ninjahax works on old3ds 11.6, but on smea's github the QR codes only go up to old3ds 11.5. What do?

As said by Quantumcat, you cannot install .CIA without a CFW. That means you've got a flashcard or 3DS' friend modded.

Not exactly. While it is true that is currently the case in the future it will probably be possible to install legit cias without cfw by booting godmode9 via ntrboot (once gm9 gets the ability to install cias) though such a thing would only really be useful for fixing a 3ds without having to do a full ctrtransfer (which as I understand it means losing all your games and saves).

That's a very remote case, but if you want to install games through a .cia installer (such as FBI) you need a CFW instead of installing .3dsx via OFW

Where did you hear this? I believe you can't install anything without the home menu loaded. This means CFW is required.

It is not yet possible but there is no reason why it couldn't be done, it just hasn't been implemented (yet). If GBA saves can be injected/extracted without the use of process9 (which is how gm9 1.4.3 handles gba saves, previous versions had to use process9 and thus weren't as stable) then I see no reason why it would not be possible to "manually" install a cia without the home menu.

Because a gba inject save doesn't require a check from the system instead of .cia apps.

SO i'm trying to use freakyhax on 11.6.0.39U since thats what I originally used, and I downloaded the new otherapp payload, renamed it otherapp.bin on the sd card, and I still cant get homebrew to load, it just causes that error that makes the system restart.

is there something else im missing or does freakyhax really just straight up not work with this verison?

Installing requires services that are only available when the home menu is loaded.
