Gateway has firmware.bin built into the Launcher.dat. Unlike public firmwares which either don't need that file anymore or can use the public dumped versions, gateway requires an update any time native firm gets an update.
Its the closed source nature of gateway that makes it that way

So there nothing physically blocking it? Its just the gw team cant be arsed updating it?

I am a little confused by question and I am wondering, are you still running AuReiNAND?

No latest Luma. I just called it that in this instance.

Since Gateway use an outdated firm file, as @TheCyberQuake said, gateway won't boot.
Sadly since it's not loaded from the SD Card and packed in the Launcher.dat, we can't really update it by ourself.

I guess the Gateway team can update this quickly, but they most likely won't update Gateway before StarGate3DS release.

Alrighty then.
The only real method to getting the "latest" OFW with Gateway is to make a frankenfirm. Basically requires selectively updating parts of the OFW to make something that is mostly up to date. I personally suggest not doing that, but that's my personal suggestion.

Already transferred mostly everything over to Luma now. GW is now just a spare part.
