Alright folks, have decided to dig out my old previously jail broken PS3 to give to my nephew, but wanting to make it as kid friendly as possible, i.e. Just launching games, no ability to delete or mess around with installed titles, etc.

Is it possible to be able to launch Ps1/ps2/PS3 games all directly from xmb without him being able to access multi man etc?

Anyone else done something similar or any advice you can give?

Cheers :)

  • Lite Lock --> locks update,system settings,net settings
  • Full Lock--> locks all settings category
  • Disable Lock --> all locks are gone,settings is back to normal

This is to keep them from updating. So much peace of mind.

install webman.

you mount ps3/ps2/ps1/psp games from the main menu.

but there is nothing to prevent you accessing settings etc and best way to prevent updating the console is to disconnect it from the media server so you wont get the firmware update message, unless you insert a game thats on a higher firmware.... so also probably advised not to insert game discs that are on a higher firmware.

Excellent thanks, looks like webman covers that part for me.

After looking around looks like there is a plugin called PS3Lock that may cover the parental style controls I'm after. Has anyone used this?

Going to have a play around this weekend and hopefully come back with some findings :)

ive not used it because i am the only one with access to my ps3, but could see how its useful to others.

or strictly tell the user not to do anything other than select said game via webman and boot.

Didn't know this existed. Saw a lot of posts in the past that kids updated the PS3 of parents wich sucked so glad that this came out.
