It looks like I can't. It's a work laptop and all programmes such as word and paint are disabled unless I'm in citrix.

I don't suppose the program supports Mac does it? I'm only using the work laptop because I assumed it didn't. My home computer is an iMac.
Is snipping tool installed?

I haven't heard anything about it being mac compatible. Could there be something on your laptop that is limiting you access to install it?

Is there a solution for playing "Illusion of Gaia, Illusion of Time, Super Street Fighter 2 and Terranigma" without Retroarch?

For SFII use the Jap version, that is confirmed to work I read some pages ago. The others not as far as I have seen people commenting about.

It could be something on the laptop stopping it I guess. Could look for snipping tool, if I knew where to find it. Not a windows guy I’m afraid :(

So what controller can i connect to play N64 games?

I know Snowboard Kids (N64) works nice, but i can't control the snowboarder
I have Diddy Kong racing and GoldenEye on it aswell, but, like said i need a controller with more buttons

So what are you using?
It's have to be a third party controller or one of the wii classic controllers.

now i have all 16 games of the original games compressed.
at 5 i have it not done because i had speed problems.

that saved around 7 MB.
now there are 139 Games with 5 Folders and 4 Game Systems (NES, SNES, GB, GBA).
full use of 213,3 MB on the Mini Snes

the strange is that i could use 7zip with .7Z files.
then it came a Error C7
with .gz no problem.

this problem is only with the original games.

with the own added there is no problem with .7z

Hmmm, looks like I've screwed up the custom firmware option. I first made a dump of the original stock FW. I flashed the custom FW, and all was great. Hakchi 2.20 had a green circle bottom left of it's window. I set the FTP, and FTP's into the SNES mini. I set the FTP settings to 1 download at a time, and began to back up the contents of the file system. After doing one folder, my FTP client started to report connection aborted, 500 Snes Mini not found. Looked that Hakchi 2.20, and the bottom left green circle had turned red.

Now, whilst in custom FW mode, the SNES Mini, doesn't appear to boot. When I power it down, the red power light flashes approx every 13s. I need to disconnect the USB.

I can flash back the stock FW, and then it boots as normal on the TV. I can flash back the custom FW, but then I'm back to the same problem again :/

Anyone any ideas?

Aside that, there is this controller made by Hori for SNES Mini that seems to be the perfect match for the Sega Genesis.

original.jpg

So I am guessing aside SNES Mini doing just SNES, I will select and pick some of the most awesome games on some other systems like Megadrive, Genesis and such, and put them on Retroarch on the SNES Mini. The most portable all in one retro fun I had in a long time. Although I still hope for the port of Nintendo's Canoe as homebrew for WiiU :-)
This controller looks like a good idea for Sega games. I happen to have it, so may try it out. Do you know if I will need to re-map the three-wide buttons to match their original functions on Genesis/MD?

Uninstall and flash custom again.

Is there a way to Edit this List?

Have tested some Games who are not on the List.

Mystic Ark J with Aeon Genesis English Translation - Works
Der Langrisser J with English Patch - Works - Few Text Errors
Lennus 2 (Paladins Quest 2) J with English Patch - Works
I think there is a button in the upper left to request access to change it.

Thank you Cluster for the awesome work!!

Has anyone tried GoldenEye with the glupen64 mod on retroarch on SNES Mini? Does it play better than on the NES Mini (where it was very slow)...????
Is generally the N64 emulation better with SNES mini?

How many games do you have on your main screen?

Uninstall and flash custom again.

I've tested a number of translations and rom hacks that also don't work. Maybe a separate page for modified games would be useful?

I just deleted games, uninstalled retroarch+modules, uninstalled hakchi2, reset console to default settings. Then i used hakchi 2.20 installing retroarch.

Now each time i run a retroarch game (they loads up and start) when i press a button in the gamepad (it doesn't matter which one) the game, after 2-3 seconds, exits to main menu just like i pressed the reset button.

It did that just with retroarch games not with canoe emulator.

Any hint? @Cluster ?

I don't own it, yet. So can't tell you any of that. Do you have the SNES Mini version of it though? As you need a receiver that fits in the SNES Mini controller ports to have it work!

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
