Nintendo Switch Firmware 3.0 Hacks Made Public

C7CkHQdXEAMQKe1.jpg

Team Reswitched has made their webkit exploit toolkit known as PegaSwitch available to the public! The newest version now supports up to firmware version 3.0, and comes with an Open Sourced SDK known as libtransistor so homebrew developers can get started on the console. They -even- released a Switch Homebrew emulator (they made it clear it will not emulate games) so you can debug and test homebrew without having to use the Switch every time!

With Switch homebrew still in it's infancy, don't expect anything crazy for a while still... but what an exciting time for the community!

Still have no regrets about updating mine. I'm not even 16 yet, so I don't have money to throw around.

I paid $300 for this thing, so I'm not gonna let it sit in a closet/not be able to play any games on it to wait for a little PoC Pong implementation, and I am NOT buying ANOTHER Switch.

Listen, I'm glad the scene has progressed this far already. I really am. It's just not worth it to wait, at least for me right now. Let's all respect each other's opinions, alright? :)

This is what I like to see, so many people miss out on or going to miss out on some good games just to leave their switch alone in hopes for something serious to release. Not saying this isn't serious, but a solid amount are waiting for the emulation, pirating to come.

It's early stages, me personally I could care less about all the jazz for now. When it comes I'll get a second switch if I'm interested if not then I'll be perfectly happy anyway. I have a 3ds and vita so that covers all my emulation needs.

Most are waiting for piracy, that's no doubt about it (yes you 53 guest right now! I know what you want!) and some for real homebrews. Especially save backups would be solid now... That Nintendo still haven't issued an update or atleast any info in the matter is just bad.

No doubt in my mind people want homebrew just saying imo I don't think there is a reason to miss out on games now, it can take a while to get some real homebrew. I mean we all spent our money on something to enjoy not put away. I know you'll be able play the games eventually.

At the end of the day I don't think waiting is worth it for me but I understand it is to others.

You can repeat that as many times as you want, there's another thing to consider that in my opinion is much more important than piracy.

Its Nintendo, and like all Nintendo consoles, they always ruins their potential with shitty firmware updates that bring nothing.
This Switch has a huge potential but Im still very unsure if they'll ever bring cloud saves, proper emulation (aka without monthly fee associated and with a decent catalogue), proper browser, video channels etc.

I couldnt care less about piracy of the few games I already have. And Im sure a lot of people here don't either. Going through the pain of getting another console just to get games for free doesnt make much sense to me.

Your second switch will more than likely be on a higher fw than 3.0.0 lol

No, because when I need a second console for something like this I just hop around craigslist/kijiji till I get one. I wouldn't buy one without checking the FW first.

I myself would love a to be able to save my save files. But what i really would like is a CPS1/2/3 EMU oh man that would be nice :)
It would pretty sweet for a neo geo emu , and 100% a classic HBC :) , These are the things i would love my switch for

Neato. It's great to see the homebrew team shining through so early in the consoles life. While I'm looking forward to console mods, I truly hope that piracy does not become a reality so early in this consoles life. If we want to see great titles ported to the Switch in the future, we need to see high sales of current and near-future releases.

I'm currently sitting at 3.0.2 and am fine with it. I love supporting lesser-known game developers. I've got an extensive Wishlist on my Switch (I purchase 1 or 2 every paycheck) and I'm looking forward to future eShop releases.
