To anybody asking if their AR will work:

Does the sticker match one of the cards in the OP?
Yes: It should work
No: It probably doesn't work

What exactly do you mean by it doesn't lock off functionality? If you mean you can still play ROMs then it sounds like the patched update didn't work.

As in, in general it didn't work?

Well, yeah, that's a possibility.... But it's hard to tell, because I select the update and all, press A and it seems it does something.

I've tried applying other updates but with those ones it tells me it's in a higher version.

Problem is, nobody has really said much about their experiences with the R4igold.cc flashcart, so it's pretty hard for me to know whether the behaviour is expected or no.

Seems like you're having the same problem as mine :/ . Is your R4IGOLD.cc in firmware version 7? if that's so

hello I would like help with the files that should go in memory please,

I can not start the action replay

3ds memory files.

Well, if you're from Chile that makes a lot of sense.

Does your R4IGOLD.cc have the logos on the front?? They used to sell the logo-less ones around here (I bought mine about a year ago or more). If so, then I believe it's either too old or a clone (of a clone). In either case, the flashing is not working right now with those ones.

They are selling a different R4IGOLD.cc now though, the ones with the logos on the front. I haven't tested the update on those ones however, since I don't know anyone that has one of them, and I'm not willing to buy one just for testing (they are a real ripoff here).

How do I mod my Action Replay DSi so it will fit in my N2DS XL?

If it's anything like the N3DS XL, put a game in your 2DS, pull it out instead of popping it out, then insert the AR at an angle. It should slide right in if you do it right.

Well, that's not entirely true. The question should be: "Can you update your AR's firmware via Code Manager or Code Manager DSi? And does it work on a 3DS?" If you can answer yes to the first question and no to the second, then there's a good chance it's supported, otherwise it's most probably NOT supported.

Anyways, for anyone wondering, here's a quick list of all the ARs that are confirmed working and not working for NTRBoot.

WORKING:
Action Replay DS (no card slot, aka "slim". Might require a firmware mod in order to work.)
Action-Replay-02.jpg
Action Replay DS ("fat", aka the one with a card slot)
81A0aZDIrgL._AC_.jpg
Action Replay DS EZ
ActionReplayDSEZ_DS_cartridge.jpg
Action Replay DS Media Edition (requires a different installation method than other ARs)
71SuI935LTL._SL1500_.jpg
Action Replay DSi (the original one that WON'T boot on a stock 3DS and is updateable via Code Manager DSi)
feature-action-replay-dsi.jpg

NOT WORKING:

Action Replay DS/DSi Updates (there seems do be different variants for those, check your ARDS's label if it says "Updates". Also, those are able to boot on a stock 3DS.)
Anything that doesn't come with an USB port or is not updateable, such as Action Replay Ultimate Cheats for Pokémon.
Action Replay Powersaves

I don't own all of these, but I've been able to find out which ones do and don't work by looking at their firmwares (if available). If I'm wrong on anything, let me know and I'll fix this post.

Props to the devs that make this stuff work, but it ain't working for me.
I got an Action Replay DS EZ
Everything patched just fine, but when I try to drag and drop the .bin file over the "software upgrade" button in the patched ARDS manager .exe file i get a big fat
Ø (<< btw this is also how I feel right about now)

You can drop it anywhere you want as long as it's above the code list. Also, if it doesn't work, try my firmware image on a non patched Code Manager:

If it still doesn't work, please tell me what error it gives to you.

No matter what I tried it didn't work, but I found a workaround.
VM XP did the trick, for some reason I can drag and drop the binary into the exe on XP but not on w7/w10

But now I've stumbled onto another issue, whenever I try to boot ntrboot after I let go off the buttons the 3DS just shuts off by itself.

That's because this firmware uses a modified B9S firm that executes a payload on the SD card called "ntrboot.firm" (instead of boot.firm). If it doesn't find that file, it shuts down the console, so it's intended behaivor.

You're referring to the file on the root??
If so, which one should I replace it with?

If you're following the guide, at some point it will tell you to put SafeB9SInstaller to the root of your SD and rename it to "boot.firm". Instead of that, rename it to "ntrboot.firm".

I have a R4iGold.cc (2015), and it comes with version 7.07, I'm trying to use the patcher to downgrade it to run b9s, but it doesn't do any changes, says "cycle power", won't boot ntr, boot's normally as a R4 when selected, and when I open the updater, the same version remains.

I have a

Action Replay DSi (the original one that WON'T boot on a stock 3DS and is updateable via Code Manager DSi)

It is the version that does not have a SD card slot.

I am able to go through all the steps but I can't get it to work on an old 2DS.

BTW; I have a modded new 3ds XL, how do I get it to boot on it? My ARDSI works fine on a DS Lite, don't have a DSI.

Last edited by CRTdrone,
I found an old slim ARDS that I forgot I had. Unfortunately, Code Manager refuses to recognize it. The drivers are installed and my PC can see the AR just fine. My DS can run the AR just fine. For whatever reason, Code Manager just doesn't work for me.

Hey !

Today i've been lucky to find a AR DSi for less than 3$, so i've decided to use it for my N2DS XL. But before using it for my main 3DS now, I'd like to know if there's any way to check that my AR is working fine with the B9S inside in order to avoid any brick or something like that. I own 3 3DS with B9S / A9LH included.

Thanks !
