This may be incorrect but I believe most WUP installers can't handle special characters like the é in Pokémon

I can only assume this applies to the weird Ō in Ōkami as well, but I haven't actually tested it. I removed the accent when I made my WUP pack for it.

Why do you guys try to inject trimmed or modified Gamecube ISOs as your first try?
That's like the worst thing to do.

First try with a clean game.iso file, not trimmed, not converted to whatever other format there is for NGC, just ISO.
Then inject the custom Wii VC with that ISO and be sure that it boots.

If it does, now you are sure you have a clean dump of the ISO and you know it's working.
THEN you can go ahead and try using trimmed/converted ISOs to GCM/FST or whatever the heck there is.

In the op it's write "game.gcm" for NGC game

I think the thing a lot of people are getting hung up on is, since the automated script requires gamecube games to be a .gcn file to recognize it as a Gamecube file (and not a Wii file) and run the proper script, people are confused whether they need to convert the .iso to .gcn with a tool, or if they can just take the game.iso file and rename it to game.gcn.

They can just change the name to game.gcn and not worry about a conversion, but that's where the confusion lies.

Aren't GCM files simply renamed .ISO files?
Try going for ISO format files first, then go for GCM.
We still don't know for sure if other formats are gonna be read with the new modified Nintendont for Wii VC, so we have to take it step by step.
First ISO, then GCM if ISO works, and then FST or the trimmed format if both ISO and GCM worked.

Don't try to go directly for trimmed or converted ISO files because we won't know for sure if the problem comes purely from the badly converted ISO or something else in the injection process.

The script uses game.gcm to determine whether it's a GameCube game or game.iso for a Wii game. It then takes that .gcm file and rebuilds it into a iso.

  • Place your game dump inside the SOURCE_FILES folder named the following:
    • game.gcm for GameCube Game
    • boot.dol for Wii Homebrew
    • game.iso or game.wbfs for Wii Retail ISOs

@KhaderWelaye can I make the suggestion to specify in this section of the OP to rename the game.iso file from Gamecube games to game.gcm WITHOUT using any conversion method?
Simply renaming them from ISO to GCM should do the trick.

People are getting confused and assume that they need some sort of conversion tool, which might end up in screwed up game compatibility due to the iffy conversion some tools use to make GCM out of ISO files.

Your right but maybe you can help me, I always get a black screen (after "Wii") when I launch nintendont (or gc game) I don't know why, I have the latest dol in the good place

Hey, great job. I'm not sure. Is it possible to play Skyward Sword without a nunchuk now? My nunchuks are in storage far away, so I haven't been able to play.
