Let´s hope the mediocre sales of Metroid Prime - Federation Forces (0.10 Million worldwide) gave Nintendo a wake up call.
No one wanted that game, not even Prime fans wanted it.
It was a fucking obnoxious thing to do and a slap in the face for overall Metroid fans.
Nintendo will see the difference with the sales of both Samus Returns and Prime 4, I can be sure of it, but let's not put the blame on the Prime series, because it's Federation Force the one at fault only.

Yes, there is still hope left for the series.
It all depends now on how well Metroid Samus Returns performes sales wise.
And what kind of direction Prime 4 will take.

You know.... I haven't bought a 3DS game in a LONG time. I have several hundred dollars worth, maybe even 1,000, but nothing recently has jumped out at me. I might go actually buy this one after playing the leak a bit. They deserve money for this!

Just wanted to be clear I wasn't saying Prime was bad. I love it, in fact. Its just that they ignored the 2d-style Metroid games COMPLETELY while making them. Bit frustrating that they are so eager to make new stuff like that and Federation Force (I don't count this as a prime game. so terrible), but even though their old fans (you know, the ones that made Nintendo what it is today) are practically SCREAMING for a new 2d game, and they just don't seem to care. Maybe this game is a sign that this mentality is changing at Nintendo. Really hope so.

Well they didn't ignore the 2D Metroid games completely, we got Fusion alongside Prime 1, and Zero Mission came up after that within the same year as Metroid Prime 2.
After that, then yeah they did ignore 2D Metroid after Zero Mission, but it was only until Prime 3 came around.

Oh right, I had my order of events a bit mixed up. I guess it just felt like forever. Still, that's only 1 game after Prime 1 was released.

I played it for about three minutes. Plays and looks good but I have other games right now. I've fallen in love with The Binding of Isaac and I'm also playing Rabbids and tomorrow I'm giving my full attention to Divinity 2.

My thoughts so far: using the Circle Pad feels uncomfortable, 2D Metroid is better with a D-Pad. But, the Infinite Bomb Jump is back! But, Wall Jumping is nerfed, it forces you in the opposite direction.

Yep, should have been an option to switch to use D-pad for movement. I think it works well in most scenarios, but a few times (two so far) I've turned into the morphball on accident. Game seems excellent otherwise, really happy 2D Metroid is back and I hope they can make another now that everything enginewise is already in place.
