Isn't it a little bit risky to install cfw (brick wise) ? Maybe worth a shot, it would open so many new stuff, what did you guys install

No, Haxchi is very safe to install, and loads CFW with sigpatches safely. CBCH is far more dangerous. No other way of installing the RA channel.

Hi everyone ! I haven't played Retroarch in a while, I just updated my channel install and I have to say, the XMB theme is very cool ! I haven't really understood the scanning process yet and the playlist making but I'll try !
One quick thing though, I haven't been able to solve it : it seems that it's slower than before, kind of just like before libfat. I did load Haxchi on sysmenu before though. Is there anything else to do ? I was thinking that it might come from the channel, so I tried to load Retroarch .rpx through Homebrew launcher but I never managed to do that, no matter what I do I get a black screen. Anyone succeeded in launching the .rpx version ?

Yes there is another way he can use Mocha to install the RA channel it's what I did.

(ffs..) FIX94 REALLY needs to change his wording on his CBHC download page, honestly if you can set up Retroarch to run then you really won't have any problems with CBHC... this isn't just aimed at randomizer either, the amount of 'oohh it's scary n too risky' posts - no it fukkin isn't!
Fix, if you're reading, a little sentence in brackets at the end of the CBHC description stating summat like 'there MIGHT be a brick risk if you start dicking about with it' would be a much better idea

Erm, ANYWAY! *blushes* Randomizer is right, I've played multiple Genesis roms in succession today using the channel without a hiccup (CBHC here, but of course Haxchi/Mocha is also fine)

the only way to brick your console is too unlink your nnid or format your memory this are thing people dont do by acident at all ... how is that very dangerous?

i already told you there is only 2 ways to brick if you dont unlink your nnid or format your console its as risky as normal haxchi ...

Haxchi + CFW is just as good in terms of sigpatching TBH, I'll stick with it.

then dont spread fake stuff saying wow its dangerous you shouldnt do it and so on.

What if your console messes up somehow and you are forced to format the console?

Risk is still greater absolutely
how do you mess up a console? if its messed up to the point you cant acess home menu then you probably couldnt format it either lol, and if you can acess homemenu you can uninstal cbhc anyway.

doesnt matter which way you swing it, CBHC is absolutely more risky that just using Haxchi. There are reasons the devs add multiple warnings to their install instructions. It's not false information it's fact. Wii U titles can corrupt, simple fact.

Something being 99% safe is still less than something that 100% safe from bricking.

Don't know why your being so arrogant about it.

like you said even isntalling a normal wiiu title you can corrupt your entire nand so haxcchi is not 100% either heck nothing is. There is no 100% safe anything in this world.

i get mad when uninformed people say its risky and then say wrong stuff, even to this day you will see people saying moving the cbhc channel/deleting/or opening will brick your console wich is all false lol, those thing have been fixed for a long time, you cant move it,delete it and if you open it it will jsut launch your menu again, and yet people are very misinformed and still say things that were only on the 1.0 version of cbhc.

I agree, stop spreading bad information in this thread. You can certainly brick with CBHC, but only if you don't perform your due dilligence first. Haxchi itself should be your dry run, if it installs and works successfully, you WILL NOT BRICK if you subsequently decide to install CBHC. The problem is that people skip the Haxchi install, do something wrong in the initial steps with their CBHC install and then they brick and there's no coming back from that.

Long story short, CBHC will only brick your system if you're an idiot.

If you put "default=sysmenu" in the config.txt when installing Haxchi and boot Haxchi from Quick Start menu it will apply the patches automaticaly too, like a CBHC Lite :P
We should measure Haxchi cfw vs CBHC speed from power on the Wii U, and see who is the winner ;)

For me the biggest advantage of CBHC is the custom boot menu where you can choose directly what you want : Wii U, HBL, vWii, HBC. That saves so much time.

The Quick Start method mentioned in the post above allows just about all of that. Only downsides I would guess is not booting HBC (could add HBL2HBC in Haxchi config) and not immediate sigpatches when booting up.
