Hardware Question about 2DS SD memory limit

I'm planning to update my 2ds memory, I have a 32GB SD HC sandisk. What is the capacity limit in this console? I want to buy, at least, a 128GB SD memory (not a micro SD + SD adapter 'cause the last gave me a lot of problems...).

technically the system can hold up to 2.16 TB in an SD card. But those don't exist.

If you are looking for >32 GB capacity, you will need to format it to FAT32 using an alternate tool.

And for formatting, Windows only supports FAT32 for drives up to 32 GB. Anything more than that requires a different formatting tool. If you have CFW on your 3DS, GodMode9 can do this. If you simply want to upgrade your upgrade size, you can download MiniTool Partition Wizard. Personally, I use it for formatting so don't worry about it.

honestly, you probably only need 64gb sd, there is a 289 game limit, i think you would be hard pressed to fully use 128gb on the 3ds.

That game limit is imposed by the available slots on home area, am I right?

yes. if you go over the limit it starts making your games disappear from home menu

You're right. Also, I think my 2ds will going slow in some console process. 64gb will be enough, thanks for your recomendation!

@Eddryu everyone failed to say that starting in 128 GB the console gets kinda unstable..
at 64gb the console starts to get a bit slow at loading..
at 128gb some people started to notice unstability.. and some cards even don't work...

Might be true for some. But so far I havent really had a speck of issue at all with my 128gb card.

some people just notice slower loadings nothing special
or maybe it's at 256 that gets unstable can't remember very well

The card i went with was one those class 10 lexar 633x cards. I dont really notice much. But I am kinda picky on what cards I get for anything.

I thought 64gb would be enough, but eventually ended up getting a 128gb card.

You can get a nice Sandisk 128gb Ultra, Extreme or Extreme Pro card for roughly 50 to 67 depending on card. No i know the 2ds wont read write at 90mbs but i always buy higher rated cards. And say you have a collection of files on the pc you want to put on the 2ds boom 90mb write speed comes in handy lol And then use i think SD Formatter or guiformat and format to fat 32 with 64k cluster..

You can only have 300 installed titles. So just keep that in mind. And yes bigger cards, even with formatting help, chug a bit longer. 128 is more than you'd ever need unless you are keeping full sets.
