standard 60/40 rosin core solder will work fine.

rosin core includes some flux in it but adding some liquid flux is recommended.

try practicing soldering small wires on to some junk electronics that you don't care about. that is how I started out soldering.

make sure that anything you practice on has no live AC (120/240V) still builtup inside the power supply if you use something that plugs into the wall instead of a DC adapter or batteries.

That's pretty much what I've always done.

for wires, you melt some solder in one of the wires, if the wire gets "shiny" it means it's good... if the solder doesnt' stick, the iron is not hot enough...
then do the same in the other wire, stick them togheter and they will "stick togheter"
as for boards i don't know.. i just got a very small lesson from a friend who was soldering wires and i watched it

i bet there is plenty of tutorials in youtube you can watch to know what to expect and do...

Yup, you should be good to go. Try to make a solid connection, but don't tug too hard on the connecting point.

i kite don't remember but i think yes, you don't require any more solder, they will just stick together

The only way to fuck it up is holding the iron on the pad too long and this will lift the pad off the board so be careful.
