I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my computer, the OS and a couple commonly used programs are installed on to my SSD with the rest on the HDD. I deleted them all after reinstalling Windows and installed them all with there normal installers to the HDD. The problem is that windows refuses to show them in the start menu's search when it did before I reinstalled Windows. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Start menu data is kept in %appdata%, which is on your SSD. If you move your user folder to the HDD then it might work. Either that or create a symlink.

How would that change anything if it won't show anything on the HDD?
%appdata% is stored in your user folder, which is on your main drive. Symlink the folder to your SSD or manually create the shortcuts and put them in your user folder. Start Menu shortcuts are in %appdata%\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows.

I still do not understand how that would allow the search to find programs that should be visible in the first place. All the programs do show up in the start menu, but not in the search.

Ah, sorry. I'm guessing that your installation directory isn't indexed or something. I'm not sure. If each program has an entry in the start menu then I'd assume that they'd show up in search results since in order for an item to have an entry it has to have data in the start menu's directory in your appdata folder.

I did check, and they do seem to be indexed.
