Homebrew Help?? Can I just update my Pokemon Sun cartridge normally? Or do I need to do something else?

Sorry, I'm new to this.

My pokemon sun needs to update. If I do not update it, it won't let me use online services. But if I just update normally, will it affect my homebrew? (Soundhax) Do I need to do something specific to update games?

You should install b9s for permanent homebrew

I'm not interested in getting any other firmware. I only really need homebrew for PKSM, and with the recent ban waves, I'd like to keep myself on the "low".

Can I just update my pokemon sun? Or do I need to do something else?

You need to update tgw firmware to update Pokemon sun, its better to install cfw, the chance of a ban is low now

Maybe use ctr-httpwn to get into the eshop and update your game, updating a game will not erase homebrew but updating your firmware past 11.3 will stop soundhax from working

What @Dionicio3 said, get CFW. It's safe as long as you follow 3ds.guide, and it keeps working after every stability update.

If you update the game, you still can't play online if your on a O3DS/O2DS. You should install CFW so editting pokemon is easier and that you keep your homebrew even with an update.

To add to use, to use ctr-httpwn:

1) launch it and let it do its thing
2) when it says its successful, go back to the Homebrew Launcher menu
3) Instead of pressing the button combo to go back to the Home Menu while rebooting the system, press the combination to go back to the Home Menu without rebooting the system.
4) Then launch the eShop to download the update once you get back to the Home Menu.

Wait, so if I use ctr-httpwn I can update the game normally (through eshop)? So I don't need to to install new firmware?

Yeah, but like HugaTheFox said, you cant play online on an old3ds

Then I think yes, however it won't last forever, you're better off installing cfw

The only way you can actually get console banned if by using installed titles that don't match Nintendo servers.
Just keep your 3DS like normal and use Rosalina to access the homebrew launcher and you will have a 99.9% chance of not being banned. Just don't go rushing in installing home menu homebrew and just use exploit accessed homebrew.

Thats wrong. You can get banned many ways. Some aren't even knowed.

Homebrew launcher is always better than an exploit because it will never be patched out, also, I haven't seen any bans for the past month
