i was just about to update boot 9 strap when i realized that it doesn't boot without the SD card (arm 9 and other SD card based cfws behavior) i assumed that i put boot.firm in the wrong place (anywhere but ctrnand) but low and behold, it was there as it should have been. i'm quite perplexed by this as ive had little dabble in the works of boot9 and the like. if someone could guide me towards the light, it would be much obliged

Do you mean you can't boot without the sd card? Your post is very confusing.

The current build of 1.2 B9S and luma works SDless, you copy it to the nand and such as the 3ds.guide instructs you to. When you update luma you just overwrite them manually with Godmode9 if you deem it stable, the settings and password are stored in nand, along with lumas splash screens if you have them.

Just copy the boot.firm that is on your sd card to the root of your ctrnand using godmode9.

He's wrong. He knows nothing^

Because once I updated to B9S, that started happening to me. Just don't want you to have game issues like I have after going from a9lh to b9s.

He's just trying to white knight his sexual feeling for B9S.

B9S doesn't affect games, cfw does. B9S is not a cfw. It does not load patches. All that is done by luma. This isn't some coldboothax wiiu situation where the entrypoint has its own patches built in.

That's a You thing.

I have hacked 3 3ds with B9S and I haven't had any problems with it

I hardly would call it 'way better'. It doesn't offer any benefits to users- except for the fact that you need it for new versions of luma and some utilities. That makes it better, imo.
What makes it way better is the ease of install and upgrading, A9LH lacked both.
