OP
I've had my Switch for about 3.5 months now, and for the past two weeks, I have been really getting annoyed with the joycon. Whenever I am playing BotW, Link just moves to the left without any input. This happens all the time. It has been getting worse as time progresses though.

It started 2 weeks ago, and when I stopped moving, link moved to the left. Very slowly. This happened once every 20 minutes or so and wasn't that bad.

Playing today, every time I stop moving, link starts moving full speed to the left.

Can anyone shine some light on my situation?

EDIT: This only happens while in the overworld. Any other time, whether it be in the menus or in a different game, nothing happens.

Left joycon seems weak tbh I could be playing for a while and I get some issues and my switch ain't even a month old I get input issues in Mario kart etc... At times BOTW I get link oddly move or take his time to register I even tried moving also left joycon some times loses connection and that's even when I'm sat about 1.5M away from the console I'm thinking of getting the pro controller

Super dumb question (but this did happen to me) but do you have another joycon on that could be moving it? I had this issue as well and it was just that

not sure what you mean by this.

the only controllers I have are the two original joycons.

For anyone having this problem, I had the same issues with the left joy-con on both of my pairs. I called Nintendo up, and they set up a repair for me, sent them in and got them back in about a week or so. Was a pain to not play Zelda for those days, but I haven't had any sort of issue ever since.

I recommend doing this. Nintendo seems to have a no-questions-asked repair policy with their joy-cons because of just how widespread the issues with them have been, particularly the left one, so you might want to take advantage of that while the offer is still on the table. In the meanwhile, if you have an 8bitdo controller, you can use that instead.

Thx guys, but in Poland there is now Nintedo service, so I have to send it to another country: Czech Republic or Germany.

RMA it or return it to the store and get a new one. The type of issue doesn't matter, Nintendo should be responsible for it.

There's hope for a Xenosaga port.

I live in Germany, and I sent it to Nintendo Service here.
I spent money for the delivery, wasted a week of time, and when it returned I got a new pair of controllers with the same problem. A very big waste of time and money.
I would recommend you fix it yourself with some conductive foam.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
