Well my New 3ds XL with A9lh worked fine. Decided to finally update from a9lh to Boot9strap. Everything went good. when updated luma it says it would update but then wouldnt actually update (v7 to v8) I installed the luma updater v2.1.2 and it was working. But it asked me to install it to ctr_nand boot.bin (I think thats how it was worded) After this....nothing boots at all. Power lights comes on and fades right off? Im guessing that was a mistake. But question is. Now what?

I just installed it. I assumed it was a new version. I still have my download. How do I tell what version I installed.

Im guessing I need to restore the boot.firm in the ctr_nand. But absolutely nothing boots. So how do i even try?

Don't worry about the boot.firm right now.
Just place the new boot.firm into the root of SD card and it should boot.

What you did was copied an old Luma3DS boot.firm onto the CTRNAND. From there it was trying to boot that, which it obviously couldn't do, so it just shuts down. You may have been booting from the old boot.firm from the SD card.
But I am glad to hear that everything is working

Ok Im in Luna trying to update it again, Its asking to download to boot.firm of the Ctr_nand. Im selecting No this time. But still after updating luna, it still shows on same version. Its like its stuck on 7.1 and wont go to v8 even though it claims the update worked. This all started from wanting to update to newest system software. Not sure if that can be just done like it was on A9lh

What updater are you trying to use?
I honestly suggest if you are having this many issues, to just manually update and leave well enough alone for now.

Ok did it all manually... and now all is well. I can't thank you enough. Can the system just be updated through normal update now?
