So I do play Minecraft mainly on iPhone and Xbox One and I was wonder how the “Better Together Update” will work. Like will I be able to play with my friends only on those Minecraft Servers or can you also play with friends on different platforms. Cuz I don’t wanna get hyped for the update and I can only play on those stupid lifeboat servers that we will most likely have to pay for.

Wait so how are you supposed to make friends? With the Xbox account or the Nintendo?

You probably friend Xbox players with the xbox account and Nintendo players with the Nintendo account.

OKay WHY do people keep thinking this? You DON'T have to pay for xbox live if you don't own an xbox. Why would they change that all of a sudden? An xbox live account is JUST a microsoft account. You don't need to pay for live on your pc so why would you need to pay for live on anything else? The account is just used so you have a central account for everything you play on, that's it. Only people who are gonna pay for Live are ACTUAL xbox customers.

And before you say anything, this has already been confirmed. Its a shame they even had to clarify in the first place because it seems like common sense.

if it was paying both for full year subscriptions...80 dollars a year for just minecraft, and with tax applied, 85 dollars(7% tax in hammond, Indiana) so dam, pretty expensive just for minecraft if they were trying to pull that kinda bullshit, dam

The only thing I might want to note is that players playing on the Java Edition won't have cross platform support (So PC Players can't play with other consoles, except Windows 10 edition of Minecraft.)

Also the servers available will be limited, if you ever played the PC Version Hypixel, Mineplex, and The Hive are the most popular servers in Minecraft. Servers that are on the console will have to apply to be on consoles/windows 10 and also be limited with some plugin support.

Currently the only servers that would be supported when the update comes are Mineplex (Minigames) Cubecraft (PvP) and lesser known servers. I would highly recommend getting the PC version if you can or want to get into the mini game servers since there are less limitations.
