What's the difference between using Boop and ftbrony? faster transfer rate?

Boop pushes files to the FBI remote installer. FTPBrony (i think) is just an ftp server for 3ds. You dump files into your sd card via ftp.

Technically, you might get faster transfer rate via ftp, but in practice the speeds should be similar if not equal.

Until yesterday I was trafering cias at 1.5MB/s now only 650/600 KB/s at max, is there a way to make it faster?

Quick and easy answer that is usually said in my country for anything related to your network is slow: "Stop torrenting porn"

Boop works over your local area network. If you are using up your LAN (or are far away from the router) you will experience lower transfer rates. To make sure you get the best possible transfer rate make sure you are near your Access Point and that nobody else is using the lan (IE: Streaming from your computer or copying a file via LAN)

But I see it only streaming perhaps the transfer rate is locked at 650 KB .
And is this normal?

I forgot that I just updated to 11.4 I'll try downgrading
Edit: even in 11.3 the download is locked at 650 :(

I had been having connection issues with boop, and assumed it was my connection - however, I've tried all I could and I still can't figure out what's going on.

There are two different connections in my house. I've tried all I could to make sure my O3DS and the computer are on the same network. I only have one IP address, though - so at least it isn't that. When I try to send something, if I have the setting to auto-detect the 3DS's IP address, it can't find it automatically - and if I type it myself, the 3DS does receive a notification of a file being sent, I can confirm that I want to install it, but then it gets frozen at 0 for some minutes until it unfreezes itself and says there was an error.

I can use FTPD to transfer things - but boop just refuses to work.

justneet: I had problems similar to that once, do you have a program using or a service running (like a webserver / game server) on port 8080 on your computer?
Boop uses port 8080 to serve the CIA files to your 3DS, if another program is using this port the 3DS will attempt to connect to that instead of the boop fileserver.

edit: a firewall that blocks port 8080 might also be the problem. some proxy-servers use this
port as default so some anti-virus programs or firewalls might block access to this port.

Thank you for the suggestion! I've checked, and port 8080 seems to be free, though - the firewall isn't blocking it, and there's no program running on it. It could be possible that it is someone else - one of the networks is shared to the apartment complex I live in - but when I tried just the private one, the same issue popped up.

I don't have admin access to the network, so I'm going to try checking it with the people who do, though - things are so out of my hands in here that I was hesitant to post here, but I wanted some opinions on what it could be before taking that approach.

Works swell. I just wish that you could remove items from the list and rearrange, and also be able to see the download status on the PC...

So wait, This will INSTALL a CIA over my network through FBI? Or will it just transfer the CIA to my 2DS through FBI and then I have to install it as I do normally? I am trying to install a CIA, but I don't have enough space on my SD card to hold the CIA, AND install it at the same time... so I am trying to find a way to install a CIA over my network without the CIA taking up space on my SD card.

I am "installing" a game now, having the exact same problem like you. If it's just transferring the file and that's it, it would be pretty redundant since I could have put it myself on SD card with far less effort and time consumed.

Neato! One quick question though, does it allow people affected by the recent ban wave to install cia's again? I would try this myself, but I'm away from home atm.

the banwave was only an online service ban, you can still use eShop/Freeshop but yes ban or no ban you can still use this.
