According to this article there's an industry wide shortage of certain electronic components required to manufacture the Switch and Nintendo can't get enough of them because it's suppliers have a more profitable relationship with mobile phone companies. This might also contribute to the buildup of faulty Switches gathering in Nintendo's repair centers.
This issue doesn't affect me personally, but for those who want a Switch and those who have returned a faulty Switch this is a serious problem.
