Hello everyone,

It seems that I have made a solid brick out of my Old 3DS 4.5 :<

I was just following the custom firmware guide at https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup

When I got to Section II, the part where I am supposed to turn on 'Show NAND or user string in System Settings' option in Luma3DS Configuration menu, I get the error message as in the below:

An error has occurred:
Failed to get the CTRNAND FIRM.
Press any button to shut down.

I keep getting this error message no matter how many times I turn 3DS off and on again.

The only way to get to any different screen is to delete config.bin in luma folder in my SD card and turn it back on to enter Luma3Ds Configuration menu again.

Is there any way to continue installing B9S and custom firmware at this stage?

P.S. 1
I have asked around at a different website and somebody asked me if I had a NAND backup.
Unfortunately, no.
The instruction until the Section II never tells anything about NAND backups(only explains so in later Chapter IX)

P.S. 2
Somebody also told me to update my firmware from 4.5 to higher as mentioned in the guide.
However, the guide seems to want me to enter regular SysNAND or EmuNAND to do the task, but the only 3DS screen I can get to is the Luma3DS Configuration menu at the moment.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Read Step 14 of Section I.

Recheck your files.

Thank you for the reply.

It seems the guide has been slightly changed(compared with the page I have saved before).

Will try again at home after work.

Gracias.

Got off work and tried this.

Same error message.

Did you follow step 14 in the Finalizing Guide?
I think that is the problem you have.

And your 3ds is not bricked. You have B9S and Luma3DS installed.

Well, you can still brick a B9S/Luma 3DS, you can just unbrick it really easily. Unless you bluescreen. In which case you need a hardmod.

Just in case my 3DS does turn out to be a brick, how do I unbrick this thing?

I do not have my NAND backup FYI

Not sure what to tell you, or what you were following, but that step has always been there.
People can check the history: That page as it was 8 days ago: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/b...b8c96249cd6/_pages/en_US/finalizing-setup.txt

Huh...then I must have a big problem with my memories...

Thank you for the pointer.
